The MTV VIDEO MUSIC AWARDS were hosted this Sunday on the 24th of August at The Forum in California, which was, all in all not as great as one expected it to be. There were lows and highs, controversies and tears, laughs and disappointments. So here goes:
THE RED CARPET
The Red Carpet also had an opening show dedicated to it by two killer performances by Charlie XCX (Boom Clap!) and
By Fifth Harmony (Boss)
Well, not much more can be said about it, the red carpet was as normal as normal can be with hot-to-trot entries by celebrities in their sown-together-unoriginal jeans…oops! I mean co-ordinated dresses…
And K. Kardashian spilling out everywhere. Too-much-cleavage-alert! With all that, the red carpet was cheered on.
Oh and yeah…what were you thinking Amber Rose? Nobody wear’s their barbed wires to awards! What if the dog runs away?
MAIN EVENT
The opening was Grande! With Nicki Minaj (who twerked so hard that her wardrobe gave way!), Jessie J and Ariana Grande having solo performances each and summing it up with their hit single BANG BANG!
After which awards and nominations carried out as usual, however, it was felt that the so-called Video Awards have become less inclined towards real music and more towards ‘show’.The announcements were a combination of bad mixers of singers and their videos, which completely killed the ear-drums.
The best performances by far were by Taylor Swift and
An amazing collaboration of her tracks sung by Beyoncé.
After which she silenced all divorce rumours by having a teary-family-hug with daughter Blue Ivy and Jay-z.
The on-going ‘joking-committee’ were just sad to begin with, forced laughs and bad impressions (hey, Jay Pharaoh, how about you go back to building ‘em pyramids, eh?) killed some brain-cells. Except Jim Carrey. Jim Carrey’s always excused. He. Was. Hilarious. Even when he fell off the stage…That was just a cherry on the cake!
Taylor Swift was super excited as ever, dancing to every performance like they were her best friends (what’s with all the Red Bull shots, Yo?!)
And Miley Cyrus’ sweet gesture, as she let a homeless boy take her award for the Best Video of The Year and gave an acceptance speech, was the epitome of humanity.
The show dragged on with other mind-numbing performances by Maroon 5 and Rita Ora – Izzy Azalea (yes, they had sex-appeal, but no enthusiasm).
Sam Smith, who with his insides-turning-to-jell-o voice, sung ‘Stay with me’ which, I think, dazed us all, and the new boy-band ‘5 Seconds to summer’ saved us all! All in all the show was watch-able only up until you kept flipping through channels and coming back to MTV when memory demanded.

So guys, this was the main crux of what happened at the MTV VMAs 2014. It was my take on it; if I missed out something (like the famous twerking),
Or the backstage bitchiness
Do let me know. And scene (total drama-style).
