It was all smiles for Man City as Sergio Aguero made a superb comeback among the goals and Ikay Gundogan was on the scoresheet as well to wrap up an emphatic 4-0 victory.
The match started with end to end football from both the teams as it was Naser Chadli who threatened to put it into the far post but it sneaked over the bar whereas it was Raheem Sterling who forced a save from the West Brom keeper.
City continued to dominate possession whereas West Brom continued to sit deep and it was Man City again who threatened in the 18th minute via Raheem Sterling. his first-touch volley was palmed away by Foster.
It didn’t take much time for the visitors to draw first blood as Aguero combined with Gundogan on the right to receive the latter’s pass, raced behind the West Brom back line and shot past Foster to make it 1-0 for Man City.
The goal saw Aguero end his mini drought of 6 games by scoring against the Baggies and put up his side ahead in some fashion.
City continued to dominate via the likes of Fernandinho but after Aguero’s 20th minute strike, it was the Argentine again who struck his and his side’s 2nd goal of the night after David Silva’s pass to Gundogan was intercepted. The ball fell to Aguero and he made no mistake in drilling it into the back of the net.
It was special goal since it marked Aguero’s 149th goal for Manchester City.
Post halftime, City continued to dominate the game with West Brom offering very little to the contest. Kevin De Bruyne was brought into the fray as he replaced Nolito.
It was Aguero who turned provider for Gundogan as he lifted a fantastic pass to his teammate and Gundogan wrapped up the game with a cool finish.
West Brom never really stood a chance except once when they hit the post but other than that, it was the attacking display of Manchester City’s superstars which dominated the game for most part.
Cometh the 90th minute, it was Gundogan who found the net yet again with his second and his side’s 4th goal of the game as he slotted home a pass from de Bruyne to make it 4-0 for Man City as they returned to winning ways.
