It is not really news that Ganesh Chaturthi is among the biggest festivals in India. The Hindu festival celebrating Lord Ganesh spans across several days and is celebrated in unique ways across the country.
It starts with people bringing an idol of Lord Ganesh home, or in pandals, the idol is almost treated like a respected and loved family member during this time, and then immersed in a water body on the tenth day of the festival called Ganesh Visarjan.
The state of Maharashtra celebrates it with a particular gusto unlike any other region.
However, Maharashtra is not the only one that is known to celebrate this festival; there are various countries in South and South-East Asia, particularly ones that worship Ganesh as a God, that also celebrate some version of it.
It seems, though, that the charm and interest for the festival is reaching even places no one had ever thought of, going global on a never-before-seen level.
Apparently, regions of Nigeria, Poland, and Japan are also showing their respect for this festival, considering some of the recent viral social media posts.
Nigeria
The Bollywood song ‘Deva Shree Ganesha’ from the 2012 film Agneepath is iconic in many circles. Not only does it pay respect to Lord Ganesh, but it is a wonderfully made song that can transcend any language or cultural barrier, having people from around the world getting up and grooving to it.
The Dream Catchers Academy, an NGO in Nigeria, shared a video that has since gone viral of their all-girls dance group performing to the song ‘Deva Shree Ganesha.’ The video captioned “Hello India, we hope you love this one” has gotten over 9 million views.

The video has received a lot of love, with many expressing their awe at the talent and proficiency of the young dancers and others impressed by their respect for India’s culture.
One user wrote, “Energetic, amazing, superb. No words for this excellent teamwork. Love you all and proud to be an India. I love my India,” while another commented, “This song carries such high energy and frequency. It’s really challenging to keep up with it in dance. You owned it completely.”
Poland
A 16-year-old boy from Poland also went viral for a rendition of a sacred song for the festival.
On August 27, 2025, Zach or @ZbigsZach on X/Twitter posted a greeting for Ganesh Chaturthi, accompanied by a video of him singing the devotional song “Ekdantaya Vakratundaya.”
He wrote, “#GaneshChaturthi greetings to you all from # Poland. Am #Zach (Christian by Birth) but a strong believer in #SanathanaDharma. Wishing every #Sanatani a happy #VinayakaChavithi. May #LordGanesha bless us all with Health, Wealth, Prosperity and above all Wisdom.”

Standing against a minimal backdrop, the boy’s powerful Sanskrit pronunciation and emotional delivery caught the internet’s attention.
Indians praised the video with one user writing, “Beautifully sung!!!” while another wrote, “I salute to this kid ! even I don’t remember whole rhythm I am amazed sometimes foreigners uses Shri Ganesh idol as showpiece only, But this boy is good very good.”

Japanese Dance Crew
In Japan, dance crew Chibi Unity, a 27-member ensemble from Niigata, brought their distinctive flair to the Ganpati celebration. On June 27, 2025, they posted a video of their performance on the song “Deva Shree Ganesha.”

This particular performance seems to have been inspired by another dance group called Team Anartana, a Chennai-based dance team founded by dancer, choreographer, and filmmaker Simran Sivakumar.
In September 2024, their performance on the same song to celebrate Ganesh Chaturthi had gone viral, getting over 40 million views in just around a week.
They posted another version of the performance on July 5, 2025, this time with the performers dancing barefoot, probably in accordance with the cultural custom of not wearing shoes when doing anything religious.
After impressing judges on America’s Got Talent and earning a Group Golden Buzzer, the team recently showcased a stunning performance that echoed the spirit of Ganesh Chaturthi with high-octane choreography and deep-rooted emotion.
Thanks to social media, cross-cultural education, and the universal themes of Ganesha’s story, Ganesh Chaturthi is no longer just an Indian affair. Instead, it’s now a worldwide celebration of joy, creativity, and spiritual connection.
