FlippED is an ED Original style wherein two bloggers come together to share their opposing or orthogonal perspectives on an interesting subject.

Whether it’s the world’s most popular search engine, Google, or the most popular social media platform, Twitter, or the world’s largest computer software company, Microsoft, India is ruling everywhere.

These above-mentioned tech behemoths are world-renowned and are led by CEOs of Indian descent.

It is unsurprising that Indians have taken the lead in heading the world’s largest corporations, and they have done it with elegance. India has been highly effective in producing people who have the aura and power inside themselves to kindly lead such businesses. That is something that only a few countries have, and we Indians are pleased to have it!

Indians who are leading companies globally

However, is it really beneficial for our country? Well, that is what my fellow blogger Katyayini and I are going to argue about.

No, It Is Not Beneficial!

Indian CEOs of the huge MNCs are employees at the end of the day. They do not own the company.

Indian CEOs Of MNCs Prime Example Of Brain Drain

The brain drain theory of having used the resources of one’s own country and then going abroad for providing services to that country is much applicable in the case of the Indian CEOs of international companies. Instead of doing something for the country they choose to serve other countries.

Brain drain is never termed as a good practice and does not lead the country anywhere. This harms the country and sets an example for others to follow.

Working For The Board of Directors, Not India

Indian CEOs of the huge MNCs are employees at the end of the day. They do not own the company. They have to adhere to the instructions of the board of directors.

If they would own the company they would have the agency to do something for their country. In this new era of profits, none of them have the tendency to look beyond name and profits. It is definitely not helping India and Indians.

Company’s Gimmick To Ensure Better Sales

India has a growing economy and population which is needed for having a prosperous market. Having Indian CEOs helps the international companies to sell their services, apps, and products to the exponentially growing market.

It is a part of the business strategy to place the Indians at the top spot. This helps the business to have a good image and better prospects of profits. This is not benefitting India rather the international companies who are just seeing the country as a profitable market.

Yes! It Is Beneficial

A developed nation is different from a developing nation, hence, when a person of a developing nation holds command of a global company, he/she gets to maneuver things that will benefit his/her native nation.

Indian Leaders And The Talent

Indian leaders heading top companies in various fields clearly indicate how the nation is full of talent. Going to a foreign land and becoming CEO of a company whose services are used across the world, is a proud moment.

Not one or two, we have numerous Indian-origin leaders leading some of the top companies. Be it Satya Nadella or Sundar Pichai, they showcase India’s talents on a global stage.

India Don’t Follow The West

No Indian is oblivious to the fact that how the Western nations tortured us and colonized our nation. Now, with Indians heading global companies, it is a slap on their faces that we no longer follow in their footsteps.

It symbolizes that the West that boasts of being “developed” isn’t able to raise individuals that could handle companies started by them. Even though Indians go and study abroad, they take along with them the values and knowledge of Indian businessmen. Hence, they are able to outperform the natives and are able to lead top companies.

Making Ends Meet

Lastly, one of the greatest advantages of having Indians lead top companies is that they get to develop things in certain ways that would be beneficial for India.

A developed nation is different from a developing nation, hence, when a person of a developing nation holds command of a global company, he/she gets to maneuver things that will benefit his/her native nation, thus benefiting the citizens of the nation.
