Baba Sidique, an Indian politician with the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) was assassinated on 12 October 2024 in Mumbai. The Mumbai Police confirmed that Lawrence Bishnoi’s gang was involved in the assassination according to reports.

The 66-year-old Member of the Legislative Assembly (MLA) was attacked by three men outside his son Zeeshan’s office on 12 October’s night around 9.30 pm who fired three bullets at him.

As per a 13 October report by India Today, a member of the gang even claimed responsibility for the murder in a Facebook post, further targetting Bollywood actor Salman Khan too.

In his post, he wrote “Om, Jai Shri Ram, Jai Bharat. I understand the essence of life, and consider wealth and the body as dust. I did only what was right, honouring the duty of friendship.”

The post further wrote “Salman Khan, we did not want this war but you made our brother lose his life. Today the pool of decency of Baba Siddique is closed or at one time he was under MCOCA (Maharashtra Control of Organised Crime Act) with Dawood. The reason for his death was his links to Dawood and Anuj Thapan in Bollywood, politics, and property dealings.”

It also stated “We have no personal enmity with anyone. However, anyone who helps Salman Khan or the Dawood gang should be prepared. If anyone gets any of our brothers killed, we will respond. We never strike first. Jai Shri Ram, Jai Bharat, salute to the martyrs.”

The police are investigating the post and trying to find its authenticity.

In the midst of all this, several fake videos of Salman Khan have been going viral where he is said to be threatening the gangster currently in Tihar Jail.

The Fake Viral Videos

In the recent few days, several videos have been going viral where it allegedly seems like the Bollywood actor Salman Khan is threatening Lawrence Bishnoi for the alleged murder of Baba Siddiqui.

In one the actor is heard saying “Lawrence Bishnoi, you made a big mistake by separating a son from his father. Bishnoi, you will pay for this very soon. I swear by God, if I don’t turn you into a dog, then my name is not Salman Khan.”

In another, he can be heard saying “I acknowledge your strength and bravery, but are you are so strong and powerful that you will shoulder the coffin of your family members, you will carry their bier? You have so much courage, why do you want to become Yamraj and Malik-ul-Maut? Why do you want to recite In-al-Allah and Ram naam satya for your family members?”

However, both these videos are false and digitally manipulated. They use old clips of Salman Khan’s interviews to put them out of context or just tell straight-up lies.

Video 1:

As per NewsMeter’s fact check, the first video has been proven to be false as the original clip is actually from a 2021 interview of Salman Khan with his brother Arbaaz Khan and makes no reference to Lawrence Bishnoi.

The fact-checking site did a reverse image search of shots from the video and found out that the clip itself seems to be taken from a video called “Quick Heal Pinch by Arbaaz Khan EP#1” uploaded on the YouTube channel Qu Play on the 21st July, 2021.

In this, the brothers are actually discussing social media and Salman is responding to Arbaaz reading out comments that the former got on his social media posts.

The viral clip seems to have been taken from the 14:52 mark of the video as the fact-checking site and in the original Salman is talking about how “even if 90 percent of people speak ill of him, he will continue posting on social media for the remaining 10 percent”.

The video was analysed by the Deepfakes Analysis Unit (DAU) of the Misinformation Combat Alliance (MCA) using tools like Hiya voice detection, TrueMedia, and Hive AI. As per reports, they confirmed that the video is incorrect since Salman’s lip movements are not in sync with the audio.

Video 2:

The second video has also been proven to be false by several fact-checking websites that have confirmed that the clip used in that particular viral video is from an old one and is not recent.

According to FACTLY, a fact-checking site, the clip is from an Instagram video that was posted on 15 April 2020 on Salman Khan’s official Instagram account. The same video was then posted on his official YouTube channel on 22 May 2020.

The site using reverse image search found that it’s from a four-year-old video in which the actor is seen condemning the people who are not following the COVID-19 pandemic rules.

In the video, at the 8:24 mark, Salman is seen saying the exact words used in the recently viral clip. The video was also covered by news media who reported about the video confirming that it is from 2020 and not 2024.

The video was also covered by Lallantop on their YouTube channel on 16 April 2020 where the viral clip can be heard around the 3 minutes into the video.

Again, this video also makes no mention of Lawrence Bishnoi, nor is it connected to him in any way.
