Some say marriages are made in heaven while some others believe that it is in their own hands. To some it’s a life-changing phenomenon while to some others it’s a mere societal and legal sanction to their already existing relationship.
Whatever a person’s notion of the idea of marriage might be, it is a truth widely acknowledged that marriages form an important part of our lives and are particularly rampant in India.
Especially in the past 2 to 3 years, they have become notably rampant. Be it your favourite celebrities like Vicky-Katrina or just any random friend on social media- everyone is getting married!
There isn’t a single day that goes without you coming across at least one wedding ceremony picture while you scroll down your Instagram feed. Meanwhile, your inbox gets bombarded with wedding invitations from friends and relatives. But what is this craze about marriage? Why are people being so obsessed with it, especially in times of COVID?
A possible explanation for this can be the boredom and loneliness that quarantine has brought along in people’s lives which they wanna overcome by getting themselves a companion/ that got them yearning for companionship like never before.
But how far is this true? Let’s find out from GenZ and Millenials who got married or have witnessed marriages in these past 2 to 3 years.

As we could see there is hardly any person who believes that boredom has any role to play in the increasing number of marriages being witnessed lately. While some of them have been mere onlookers to these marriages, some others have themselves been a part of this phenomenon. Surely, it is a life decision which shouldn’t be taken just because one is bored. However, what almost everyone has agreed to is the fact that COVID has provided people with one of the most important catalysts in building a relationship – time.
