The way the Western media has been reacting to, first, the Pahalgam attack and then Operation Sindoor, India’s retaliation to the attack with missile strikes, has been a topic of much debate. Many people have called out major Western media publications for being biased against India for their missile strikes, painting Pakistan in a sympathetic light and using words other than “terrorist”, thus softening the impact. The Indian government has claimed that its missile strikes only targeted the terrorist camps and infrastructure associated with Jaish-e-Mohammed and Lashkar-e-Taiba.
Now, British political commentator David Vance has come forward to criticise the way Western media has handled this whole situation and how it feels very unfair towards India and its actions.
What Did David Vance Say?
David Vance, a British political commentator and author, spoke with ANI to discuss the Western media coverage of Operation Sindoor, India’s reasons for it, and also how China is involved in all this. Vance, most of all, condemned the way Western media has reported on this whole crisis, especially India’s retaliation against terror groups. He said, “The Western media coverage has been absolutely atrocious. It’s been biased and has favoured Pakistan. It has ignored the obvious success that India had…”
He added that “the Western media is so unfair on so many things, you know, not just this issue… It cannot be trusted… I mean, the BBC should be banned in India. The BBC is so anti-India and so pro-Pakistan, it’s incredible.”

Vance also supported India’s missile strikes, stating, “The operation was long overdue and it needed to happen. The operation has been pretty successful, as best as I can understand. If you look at the global media, it has been less than supportive of India. I think this was India striking a blow for civilisation, actually; it was a lot more than just a conflict with Pakistan. I consider Pakistan to be a failed state, a terrorist state, and a terrorist incubator. It was good that India moved against it.”
He even spoke about the ceasefire, Trump’s involvement in it, and how India was in the right to go after the terror groups: “In fact, I think that India was almost too successful in so far as I was disappointed that President Trump intervened and tried to get a ceasefire. I didn’t think there was any need for a ceasefire. I think it was important that India was allowed to go after all these terrorists, and I think it did extremely well.”
Vance, speaking about China’s role in the India-Pakistan crisis, said that “China operates Pakistan as a proxy in the region. So, China cannot be trusted in any regard, which is something I would have thought Donald Trump should understand. And so it would be far better if Donald Trump understood that by supporting India, India is a bulwark for the West against China.
So, the more we can help India against Pakistan, the better, because China has vested interests in Pakistan. And those interests don’t coincide with India’s best wishes. And I don’t think they coincide with the West, or with our best interests either. So I support India because, by sorting out Pakistan, we actually strike a blow against China as well.”
