As an avid bibliophile, I believe books are the best source to escape reality. They take you from far away from this harsh world to your own comfortable space.
The best place in my house is the aesthetic wooden bookshelf I have in my living room. I turned into a bookworm in the 8th standard and since then, the shelves are rapidly filling.
Having inspired my younger sister to follow suit and imbibe the art of reading, I have, very strategically, been able to add to my collection of books. Now, I suggest to her those books that I want to read. This is by far the best thing I have made her do. I used to get one book per month, now I get two.
As a 20-year-old, I can still not convince myself to move to biography, history, philosophy, or any other kind that keeps me hooked on reality. I prefer being delusional and living in my world.
I feel this is why even a cup of strong black coffee cannot make me go for an all-nighter during exams, but a Khaleid Hosseini book can.

Here’s an unpopular opinion. Although we are the most digitally literate generation, we must still go for printed books. I don’t think I can ever stay glued to reading books online. It somehow makes me feel exhausted and drained.
Moreover, imagine sitting with your device for hours in a desi house. You’re going to get a lot of bombastic, criminal-offensive side-eyes from your parents. According to them, sitting with your laptop or iPad is an absolute waste of time, and in no time, you turn into an unproductive sloth lying on the sofa for them. So it’s much better to lie on a couch with a book rather than any gadget.
