Worldwide, 109 males are born for every 100 females –a ratio close to 50:50. But billionaire men have a 65% chance of having a son. Some examples- Elon Musk had 6 kids- all boys. Donald Trump has 3 boys, 2 girls. Mukesh Ambani and Warren Buffett have 2 boys, 1 girl each. Anil Ambani and Gautam Adani have 2 sons each.
Is Nature Being Sexist?
No, this is not a sexist propaganda, it is based on a BBC report.
The reason more men are born initially, is they have a weaker immune system, higher cholesterol, higher rates of heart diseases, diabetes and cancer. They also make up most of the victims in accidents, crime and are more prone to suicide. So the extra males are there to maintain a balance in the sex ratio. Eventually we even out.
There is stiff competition between males in the mating game as they try to maximise the offspring payoff. In such a scenario women prefer men with a higher social status. Women are choosy as biologically they will invest more in reproducing. Nowadays, women are financially independent but it seems it is naturally hardwired into them to look for the best provider of their (future) children.
Since there is less competition between females, they are more likely to secure a mate and have some offsprings in any case.
This means successful men would be more likely to have a mating advantage and more offsprings than those men down the social status line (and successful women).
So it is a big evolutionary win for sons to be successful, since it means more population i.e. survival of the species.
Moreover, sons require more investment than daughters to be considered a dominant, high status male i.e. more education and more money. Since they are larger they also require more food. Now if anyone tells me girls spend more…
