The technology of our world has constantly been on the ascension. You might be familiar with 2G, 3G and 4G available in India and how hard it is to get a good signal.
Nonetheless, we might soon be able to tap into the privileges of the 5G network which is said to be at least 10 times faster compared to 4G and we’ll only get a good signal from on top of Qutub Minar.
On a more serious note, the rapid rise of technology could lead to adverse effects on humanity. The 5G network is being investigated by the Massey university of New Zealand for potentially dangerous electromagnetic radiation.
The investigation seeks to develop ways to assess the electromagnetic exposure on humans from the wireless 5G signals. The findings will then be compared with the limits set by existing regulatory bodies.
“If the future wireless signals are found to be harmless to the human health, this project would build consumer confidence in the future telecommunication services. However, if this project shows that the 5G network leads to, or potentially may lead to adverse health impacts, the industry would be required to modify the underlying wireless technology to ensure the human wellbeing,” said Faraz Hasan, principal investigator from School of Engineering and Advanced Technology, Massey University
“With some industry giants predicting 50 billion connected devices by 2020 and with the employment of much higher transmission frequencies proposed for the 5G rollout, it is essential to determine how the future of telecommunications will affect the health of its users,” Hassan added.
Human beings are bioelectrical systems. Internal bioelectric signals regulate our heart and brains. Exposure to artificial electromagnetic waves can interact with the biological processes of our body.
In simpler words, signals from electromagnetic radiation can mess with the signals in our head.
In some cases, this may cause discomfort, or sleep disruption, or loss of wellbeing (impaired mental functioning and impaired metabolism) or in some rare cases, it could even cause dreaded diseases like Cancer and Alzheimer’s.
Fearing the potential threat to humanity, Physicist Ronald Powell has gone as far as submitting a testimony to the FCC (Federal communication commission) calling the 5G technology ‘especially outrageous’ as it exposes the public to radiation without their consent or adequate study.
“It would radiate everyone including the most vulnerable such as pregnant women, unborn children, young children, teenagers, men of reproductive age, the elderly, the disabled, and the chronically ill,” says the testimony by Powell aimed at blocking the FCC’s proposed approval of the new technology July 14.
With the United States already being readied for a future 5G launch, and candidates like Hillary Clinton fully supporting it, there is a dire need for a thorough investigation before it actually manages to cause any harm.
A faster network sounds tempting indeed, but if it is to come at a price as high as your health then it’s certainly a matter of grave concern.
