Why The US Needs Affordable Healthcare That Is Really Affordable

Reasons why Obamacare is everything but affordable

Eight years ago, an incoming president promised the nation that he would give the United States a healthcare plan in which everyone would be covered, regardless of preexisting conditions and that it would be affordable. Notice the operative word, affordable. Unfortunately, what seemed like the best gift ever given to the United States turned out to be the scourge of small businesses and blue collar workers alike, and the Affordable Care Act was anything but affordable.

Here are a few reasons why many of the nation’s leading health law degree programs offered at top ranked universities are focusing on ethical policies that will provide healthcare that is really and truly affordable.

1. Blue Collar Workers Have Fallen between the Cracks

Those who have advanced degrees in health law and policy understand the serious problems that Obamacare, the so-called Affordable Care Act, created in the past few years. Statistically, 50% of all Caucasian working men and 40% of women of the same race are classified as blue collar workers.  Why is this significant in terms of healthcare? The reason will become evident if you understand exactly what Obamacare is.

2. The Rich Get Richer and the Poor Will Always Be Poor (but Served!)

Here is the thing with the ACA. The rich have always been able to afford healthcare and the poor have always had access to Medicaid or some form of medical assistance for as long as any of us can remember. However, blue collar workers who are eking out a living day to day are forced to buy health insurance from the few providers who signed onto Obamacare and are simply unable to use it. Why? Because it is NOT affordable. It’s really just as simple as that.

3. A Look at the True Cost of Obamacare

Having said all that, healthcare law to date has mandated that everyone purchase medical insurance or be fined heavily come tax time. Again, the wealthy can afford healthcare and the poor get government subsidies in the form of Medicaid or bills written off at hospitals due to being indigent. That leaves blue collar workers footing most of the cost of Obamacare and the premiums are not cheap and the deductibles are not affordable.

With deductibles set at about $5,000 a year and set to go higher in the coming year, what blue collar worker can afford to pay insurance, hefty co-pays at a provider and of course the cost of the policy taken out of his or her pay each pay period? If you guessed none, you are probably correct. These are the true costs of Obamacare and costs that are anything but affordable or fair to the working class of the nation.

Since those who have always been served with healthcare will always have the services they need (rich and poor, opposite poles) that leaves only the middle-earners who are still not being served, are asked to pay for a product they cannot afford to use and will never get the benefit of. This is why the US needs affordable healthcare.

Nothing has changed with Obamacare except draining the pockets of the working class. It would be better to leave them uninsured! At least they wouldn’t be paying for being uninsured as they still are now. Sadly, that’s an all-too-real truth.
