The recent presidential debate between candidates Kamala Harris and Donald Trump was interesting. The US presidential race is usually always a very entertaining time to witness.
With those in the race campaigning and trying to book all the votes they can before election day, it almost always results in some hilarious situation that, if nothing else, is good fodder for the memes and jokes, even for those not from the US.
The recent debate between Harris and Trump also had a lot of people taking shots at both of them. Still, it seems some people took a particular interest in the former’s earrings, even going so far as to speculate that they were spy earrings.
What Is The Conspiracy With Kamala Harris’ Earrings?
During the Presidential Debate held at the National Constitution Center in Philadelphia, on 10th September, Kamala Harris, one of the presidential candidates came under a political conspiracy theory where some people believed that the earrings were wearing some wireless earpieces.
Some netizens claimed that Harris was wearing the Nova H1 Audio Earrings, released last year, where one of its features is that the pearl hides a wireless speaker that can transmit audio into one’s ears.
According to reports, the initial ones who started this conspiracy theory were Donald Trump supporters with one user writing “It appears Kamala Harris was being coached by using earphones embedded in her earrings during the debate against President Trump.”
Several others jumped onto the bandwagon, claiming that there are similarities between the two earrings and surely the theory must be true.

The earrings are said to be the “first and only wireless earphones embedded in a pair of pearl earrings” and as per the product description connect via Bluetooth. They feature built-in microphones that allow one to make discreet phone calls, listen to music, and even access digital assistants.
However, many jumped to debunk the conspiracy theory and pointed out that the Democratic nominee Kamala Harris was not wearing any audio devices, instead her earrings might be similar to Tiffany HardWear’s collection of Tiffany South Sea Pearl Earrings.
People pointed out the clear visual difference between the two earrings where the Nova H1 Audio Earrings have a thick look, while Harris’ earrings have two thing loops that go around her earlobes.
The site ‘What Kamala Wore’ also reveals that the presidential candidate wore the same earrings during the White House Juneteenth celebration in June 2024. The Nova H1 Audio Earrings had gotten attention from crowdfunding platforms like Kickstarter, however, reports claims from the Kickstarter campaign called it a scam and even asked for their money back.
The company behind the earrings, Icebach Sound Solutions, also doesn’t feature the earrings on their website for sale.
Although the company is certainly using the conspiracy theories as free publicity with the company updating their homepage as per a Verge report, “with a graphic of the 2024 presidential election with a caption that says a ‘special edition’ of the earrings for presidential debates will soon be ‘available for everyone’.”
The graphic didn’t show when accessing the site at the time of writing although.
Icebach Sound Solutions CEO Malte Iversen even posted on LinkedIn a screenshot of a report about the conspiracy with the caption “We can neither confirm nor deny,” however, it’s been since deleted.
Iversen even spoke about it during an interview with Just News and said, “We’re not certain if Mrs Harris was using one of our earphones. The resemblance is striking, and while our product wasn’t specifically intended for presidential debates, it’s certainly capable of handling such an event.”
