The issue of police brutality and cops getting away with crimes and negligence has been going on for quite some time in the United States of America.
In the latest incident, a video clip has gone viral where a Seattle PD union leader is mocking the death of a young Indian student who was reportedly killed by a police cruiser.
Among the many things the police officer is heard laughing to someone about the death, saying she had ‘limited value’ and that the city should ‘write a check’.
What Did The Cop Say?
A Seattle Police Department union leader’s body-cam footage has come out where he has seen talking to someone about the death of Jaahnavi Kandula, a 23-year-old Northeast University student. Kandula was tragically killed by a speeding car driven by Seattle officer Kevin Dave on January 23rd while trying to cross the road.
Vice president of the Seattle Police Officers Guild, Daniel Auderer also a drug recognition expert was in charge of examining if Kevin was impaired and while talking to President Mike Solan he referred to her as “a regular person and further said how the city should just write a cheque “Eleven thousand dollars. She was 26 anyway.”
He then finished with how “She had limited value.”
According to reports, Jason Rantz, a talk radio host on KTTH-AM who had gotten hold of Daniel’s written statement about this to the city’s Office of Police Accountability claimed that Daniel was just mimicking the city’s attorney’s reaction to the student’s death.

Auderer in his statement wrote “I intended the comment as a mockery of lawyers,” and that “I laughed at the ridiculousness of how these incidents are litigated and the ridiculousness of how I watched these incidents play out as two parties bargain over a tragedy.”
He also said that the comment was “not made with malice or a hard heart,” but “quite the opposite.”
Jaahnavi’s uncle, Ashok Mandula from Houston, told The Seattle Times after the incident that, “The family has nothing to say. Except I wonder if these men’s daughters or granddaughters have value. A life is a life.”
