This much-anticipated event promises a fusion of intellectual excitement, innovative spirit, and sheer joy as it opens its doors to students from all walks of academic life.
The passionate physics enthusiasts of Hindu College have meticulously crafted an array of captivating events, precisely designed to ignite curiosity and spark fascination among peers from diverse disciplines. Exciting prizes worth 30k await the winners of each competition, distributed by the chief guest of the event, Dr. Seetha Somasundaran, Program Director in ISRO’s Space Science Office, on the very same day!
Eureka, the Physics Society of Hindu College, stands as a dynamic and dedicated organisation towards the betterment of students. Eureka’s mission centres on enriching the educational experience. Over the years, they have orchestrated numerous seminars, workshops, field trips, and visits to national labs. To facilitate the smooth run of the society, the society is divided into different teams to achieve specific objectives.
More than just providing webinars and seminars, Eureka priorities the value of witnessing the theories that are learned in the books. Several opportunities were presented before the students to visit the CSIR-National Physical Laboratory, New Delhi, which offered a captivating glimpse into the research world, precision instrumentation, and the brilliant minds that drive scientific progress that ignited the scientific temper of the students.
An educational trip to Jantar Mantar under the guidance of our faculty, Mr. Amit Tanwar where he explained how it made astronomy and astrophysics more fun and the history of the greatness of Indian astronomy, resonated with the minds of budding theoretical physicists to more practicality.
Eureka always values the need to stay high on enjoyment and embraces the spirit of celebration. Constant celebration of festivals is done in the light of physics making everything more fun.
Eureka has its annual fest quarks organised by the students themselves. It is a vibrant fest featuring lectures by prominent Physics professors, paper presentations, debates, quizzes, and treasure hunts. The fest boasts artistic and entertaining contests like drawing, photography, and meme competitions for the students along with academics.
Hindu College has seen significant participation from students outside its walls in its fests, making Eureka’s efforts in promoting the love of Physics resonate far beyond their immediate community.
Quarks presents an enormous opportunity for students from various other branches to understand the essence of physics and thereby develop a love for the subject. Eureka has prepared several exciting events to deliver the thrills and delights of physics.
Quarks demonstrates to the world that physics is not solely about books and papers but also incorporates joy and fun in its elements, the aim is not only to delve into the depths of physics but also to extend an invitation to everyone to revel in its wonders. To celebrate this year’s Quarks, one of the prestigious figures of India’s space adventures is also invited.
Dr. Seetha Somasundaran, an alumna of the Department of Physics of Hindu College, will address the students on the 19th of March from the Sushila Devi Auditorium in Hindu College, spreading the marvels of physics to the audience and interacting with them, sharing her experience as the Program Director of ISRO.
Quarks promises a plethora of exciting competitions and activities to engage the imagination and challenge the intellect and showcase their potential. Those who excel in coding are welcome to enroll in the Coding Competition.
Several rounds testing the ground-breaking coding skills of students are prepared, and the winning team is given prizes.
Along with this, challenging the coding skill, design flair, and innovative thinking, students are welcomed for the App Making Competition. An app is to be created to address scientific challenges across various disciplines, extending beyond physics alone. A group of up to four participants is allowed in a team for the app-making competition.
Students are invited to display their scientific and research projects in a Paper Presentation competition to share their scientific ideas and insights. Beyond these, several fun activities are also provided such as Escape Room, where the students are given a set of questions that need to be solved to untangle the mystery.
Quiz Competition is also conducted for the students to shine their knowledge in science. All these competitions can be participated as a team or alone and several prizes worth thousands await the winners!
Quarks is a celebration of the inherent beauty and wonder of the universe. As the curtains rise on this spectacular event, Eureka extends a warm invitation to students from all corners of Delhi University to come together and revel in the beauty and fun of physics and explore the limitless possibilities that physics has to offer!
