Priyanka Gandhi Vadra made her debut in the Parliament giving her first speech as the newly elected MP from Kerala’s Wayanad.
On Friday she gave her first address in the Lok Sabha speaking on the debate going around the Constitution including subjects like reservation, nationwide caste census, and more.
During her almost 30-minute speech, she spoke about how the BJP-led NDA government was talking about the Constitution now after the results of the Lok Sabha elections showed a decrease in their numbers.
She also alleged that the “ruling party has made all attempts to break” the Constitution which is considered to be a ‘suraksha kavach (protective shield)’.
She also alleged that the Lateral entry scheme being pushed by the government and currently under the deliberation of the JPC is an attempt by the government to weaken reservations.
She further stated the importance of a nationwide caste census as it would bring awareness to the “condition of everyone and policies be made accordingly.”
She also brought up the Adani issue, and how there had been no debate about the allegations made against the industrialist in the House as well as alleging the government of favouring big businesses and privatisation over the good of the common people.
