All hell has broken loose for OLA, which provides transportation in India, Australia, New Zealand, and the United Kingdom. After a heated row between comedian Kunal Kamra and  CEO Bhavish Aggarwal on X, a customer’s video condemning the quality of the company’s e-scooters has gone viral.

What Did The Video Say?

The CEO of OLA has been facing a severe backlash against the services of his two-wheeler company, Ola Electric. A video has gone viral, revealing further discrepancies.

The clip shows a man inside the Ola service centre, where he had given his new scooter for repair. I am inside the Ola service centre right now and you can see all the scooties around me. I had brought my scooty to be serviced two months ago. It was a brand new vehicle. Now look at all these scooties parked here to be repaired. Sab ki sab scooties kharab khadi hain (All the scooties are non-functional),” he said.

The video then shows scores of scooters parked in a compact room. Another customer at the service centre said on camera, “I am facing a lot of problems because of this scooter.

Sometimes the shocker stops working or the whole scooter resets. It stops working suddenly. I almost got into a road accident twice because of it. It just stopped in the middle of the road,” he added.

The man in the video also advised the audience not to buy Ola scooters. “It will cost you ₹1 lakh. You should think about how you want to spend your money,” he said.

The video also showed more people waiting at the service station, to which the cameraman revealed that they too had been trying to reach the manager but the latter was ignoring their calls.

The Ruckus Ola Is Facing:

The viral video is another whip Ola has faced in just a week. Problems began getting serious after comedian Kunal Kamra shared a picture of Ola Electric scooters covered in dust outside a dealership. CEO Bhavish then charged him with defaming the company for money.

Netizens did not take the CEO’s comments very well, calling them “vulgar“, “pedestrian” and “crass“.

The issues do not end here. After this heated row, Ola’s share prices are just moving down the graph, dropping from Rs. 157.53 to Rs. 85.21 within just 15 days, causing a loss of about Rs 3,500 crore.

Moreover, the National Consumer Helpline says that approximately 10,000 complaints have been lodged against Ola e-scooters in 2023.

Nisha Gowri, a customer from Bengaluru called out the company in a unique way. She posted on X (formerly Twitter) a picture of her recently-purchased Ola e-scooter, attaching a placard to it that said, Dear Kannadigas, Ola is a useless two-wheeler. If you buy one, it only makes your life hard. Please do not buy an Ola Electric scooter.”

She called herself “a frustrated OLA user” and captioned the post saying “If you buy Ola, your life is going to be hard. I will be spreading awareness against Ola Electric.”

The CEO of the company has not yet responded to these customer complaints.
