Microsoft announced the Surface Studio at an event in New York City on Wednesday, October 26.

The Microsoft Surface Studio’s announcement was spectacular and oh my god… I want it now.

“We totally believe that Surface changes the way you produce, the way you create, the way you learn,” said Panos Panday, the present head of Microsoft’s devices division.

The accompanying release video gave me chills. Like seriously, watch the video if you haven’t already and if you have, well watch it again.

I am not the biggest fan of commercials but I would be lying if I didn’t say that the promo video inspired me to lead a better life. I mean did you see that godly radial accessory?

A shoutout to the marketing team behind this, one of the best product launch trailers ever made. This is the future guys, it’s actually here.

Boasting world’s thinnest monitor at 12.5mm and a display output of 13.5 million pixels, Surface Studio offers picture quality that is reportedly 63 percent more dense that the current gen 4K displays. While it is pricey, with the base model starting at $2,999, it has good reason to be. The preorders are up on Microsoft’s website and the first orders are expected to be shipped out just in time for the holiday season.

I am not even an artist (far far from it) but after seeing that, I want to start designing stuff. If nothing else, I’ll settle just for making stupid memes. I want it. I don’t know if I actually have a need for it, but I want it. What a brilliant way to remember Gene Wilder and reminding us just how powerful imagination is. Now that’s how you make a great ad.

Having worked in different tech companies, I can vouch that graphic artists and UX designers don’t even go near a Windows PC when it comes to their work. Surface Studio is here to change that. Not to mention how great this could be for architects, production managers, photographers, video editors and the list goes on.

Surface Studio is exactly what innovation is about. Not the usual BS that Apple churns out every year (just USB-C? Are you kidding me?). Apple certainly revolutionized the portable music and smartphone industry in the last decade but Microsoft hit the ball out of the park with Surface Studio. This is iconic, innovative, and powerful. This is big.

Time to save up and start bugging Santa for your Christmas present.
