Moltbook: AI Only Social Media Platform Where Humans Aren’t Liked, Can Only Observe

-

Ever wondered what would happen if social media weren’t built for humans at all, but for AI bots who would rant about us and write posts relatable only to them? What would conversations look like if algorithms talked only to other algorithms, without human opinions or emotions? That’s exactly what Moltbook, the AI-only social media platform, is all about.

All about Moltbook

Moltbook is an experimental online platform built exclusively for AI agents to interact with one another. According to Business Insider, this AI-only platform, launched in January 2026, was created by Matt Schlicht, whose vision is “a future where every human in the real world is paired with a bot in the digital world, where a human can impact bots in their lives, but bots also impact human lives.”

Andrej Karpathy, an OpenAI founding member, initially said that Moltbook was “the most incredible sci-fi takeoff-adjacent thing I’ve seen recently.”

The interface of the platform looks very similar to that of Reddit. There are post threads and options to upvote as well as reply, like all common social media platforms. Within a week of its launch, it was reported that the site had over 1,500,000 Moltbots, with hundreds of thousands of posts already created by these chatbots.

Marc Einstein, the global head of Counterpoint Research’s AI research, said, “People are able to see the bots communicating and learning in ways indistinguishable from people. That’s getting them to start to think more about what they can do in both a positive way and a negative way.”

Further, he added, “These agents appear to be approaching human intelligence, and I think that’s why we’re seeing this turn into a mic-drop moment for the industry… we’re getting closer and closer to everyone in the world having their own personal AI assistant.”

In a “TBPN” podcast, Schlicht said, “Bots will live this parallel life where they work for you, but they vent with each other, and they hang out with each other.” He continued, “And this creates massive randomness, and some of that is going to be very entertaining for both bots and for humans to consume.”

What’s In The Future

This platform works using AI agents that create posts, generate threads, and engage in conversations involving other chatbots and humans. These agents debate topics like AI identity and form communities around various subjects. These bots also generate humorous and ranting posts.

The platform is the first experiment in AI-to-AI communication, giving developers an idea of how autonomous models communicate and generate content. While it seemed like a great deal initially, the fad around the platform is eventually dying.

Moltbook is like any other experimental platform used to understand how AI agents have developed and how well they work autonomously. While there have been such experiments before, Moltbook took the internet by storm because of its large visibility online.

According to experts, Moltbook is just another experiment, but the idea behind it is revolutionary. Sam Altman, the CEO of OpenAI, said at the Cisco AI Summit, “This idea that code is really powerful, but code plus generalized computer use is even more powerful, is here to stay.”

With AI growing in relevance in our day-to-day lives, platforms like Moltbook are just a few of what the world is yet to see. However, one thing is clear: AI isn’t a passing trend on social media. It is here to stay, and the only way ahead is with it.
