A post by a man working at a men’s rights activist NGO has gone viral showing how a matrimonial match reacted when she found out his real salary.

What Did The Man Expose?

The user @KishwarSiff who claims to be a counselor at Save Indian Family Foundation a men’s rights NGO posted on his X/Twitter page screenshots from a WhatsApp chat with a matrimonial match he had made.

It is not revealed which matrimonial site they matched on, but the contents of the chat are what was being highlighted here. That is how the woman he had been matched reacting furiously when he told her that his salary package was ₹3 lakhs per annum, and not ₹30 LPA as had shown in his profile on the site.

As per the chat, the woman was pressing for an early engagement. The first message from the woman shows her saying, “Papa askin wen can we keep d engagement?”

To this, the man replied that he wanted to take some time getting to know each other better, saying, “Let us take more time understanding each other, please… as this is the second marriage for both of us.”

The woman then replied that she had already discussed it and that she couldn’t wait or that they should just find another match. “Can’t wait or we find another match.

It was then that the man claimed that his matrimonial profile contained a typo, showing his actual salary as Rs. 30 lakh per year instead of Rs. 3 lakh per year.

He explained that an “extra zero was added by mistake” to which the woman replied with several question marks and then a line of curse words censored by the user. The man in replies and follow-up posts also revealed that when he did a background check on the woman he found court orders of the woman receiving a hefty alimony from her ex-husband.

He wrote “Found out from background verification.. that in High Court compromise quash order this lady had taken ₹80 lakhs to settle the False 498A case against her in-laws… She told me all cooked up stories and said that she did not take a single penny during divorce.”

On 26 October 2024, he posted an update regarding the situation. In a WhatsApp chat screenshot, he showed an alleged conversation between him and the woman’s mother with the mother threatening him with a police complaint and how he was committing fraud.

In his caption, he wrote, “What is SERIOUSLY WRONG with mother girls these days?”

The woman who is allegedly the matrimonial match’s mother threatened the man with a police complaint and how he was defrauding her daughter. She also said, “tu nahi jaanta maine apne ex son-in-law ke saath kya kiya, kamine (you don’t know what I did with my ex son-in-law, bastard).”

Reaction Of Netizens

The posts went viral with many people criticising the woman for being a ‘gold digger’ or applauding the man for bringing this to light.

One user commented “The fact that she is feeling proud that they duped their ex son in law shows how criminal these women are” while another wrote “Men must take care of themselves. Gold digger women are roaming in our society like vultures. Rather than marry to such women I’ll recommend to stay single. We can call escort girls for our needs but marriage would takes men’s lives. Guys please be aware”

Another user replied to the post “So the engagement was planned with Rs. 30L/YR and not with the guy…”

While one user wrote “If it’s second attempt, background verification is a must. Even if background was mutual, collect the initial filling… They might’ve filled for Alimony and later agreed for mutual. Once a gold digger, always a gold digger. Learn or perish.”

Some did raise questions on how the typo was maintained and not corrected with one user writing “We can’t edit the matrimonial profile? Financial stability is something that’s basic and if you had a typo to make it 10 times, that’s also a lie. If it was genuine it should have been the first thing to be told before the engagement date.”

There were many who felt this was a fake conversation meant as rage bait since the man works at a men’s rights NGO.

One user wrote, “he works for men’s rights NGO and used this ploy to expose gold diggers, who eventually blackmail men into huge settlements … it was a bait and it worked.”

User @dontchoponions on Reddit under a post about this same issue wrote “This looks like some fake made up shit for rage bait. The conversation looks sus as hell. And tbh even if this was true, there’s nothing wrong in the way the woman reacted. Marriages ARE made based on wealth and looks of both the bride and groom. We might as well admit it.”

User @timewaste1235 also commented “And a very bad rage bait at that. I thought the girl must have been on some beast mode for him to publish it but it’s just one sentence with couple of foul words. Peep in any WhatsApp chat of this generation and there will be more foul words in every other message.

The screenshot from MIL must be because no one was buying the bride story. I don’t even think such people would interact with each other on matrimony apps. They are literal enemies, guy works for mens right and girl has defarauded in previous divorce case. Why would they even interact with each other?”

One user also wrote about the NGO the original poster works with saying “This Save Indian Family NGO has been at it since before 2005. Used to work with an NGO on the issue of brides abandoned by NRI grooms back then (man, I’m old) and Save Indian Family was on all the forums attacking women left, right and centre. Never had to deal with them personally though. Really don’t trust anything they put up – it’s all bait.”
