Katrina Kaif’s Dialogue Goes Viral During Nepal’s Gen Z Protest

-

The recent Nepal protests in September 2025 were based on serious reasons, sure. And also had somber slogans with them, as citizens chanted about “justice,” “accountability,” or “free speech.”

But the overwhelming number of youngsters who took part in the protest also led to them turning their own culture into a way to share and spread their cause. Among these, one dialogue delivered by actor Katrina Kaif in a Bollywood film was modified and repurposed as a protest cry in Kathmandu.

As it went viral, it showed once again how pop culture can merge with politics, giving voice to anger in unexpected ways.

What Is This Katrina Kaif Dialogue That Is Being Used As A Protest Slogan?

Among the several news reports about the Gen Z participation in the Nepal protests triggered by the social media ban and raising the issue of corruption and nepotism in the country, some also took a look at the various slogans that protesters were using.

In the midst of this, one slogan caught the attention of people, since it was a slightly modified dialogue from the 2010 Bollywood movie ‘Tees Maar Khan.’

The original dialogue, said by actor Katrina Kaif dressed as Bharat Mata, was “You dirty dog, tell me where is the gareeb Hindustanis khoon paseene ka money, batao mujhe batao!”

Kaif’s character is shouting at a corrupt villain character.

The Nepali youth, though, have customised it to suit their situation and turned it into a slogan that reads “You dirty dogs! Tell me! Where’s my gareeb Nepali’s khoon pasine ka money? Batao mujhe batao!!”

This is not the first time that Nepali youth have used pop culture moments and used them to express dissent, sharpen satire, and build solidarity. Another moment noticed in the protests was the Straw Hat Pirates’ Jolly Roger flag from the anime/manga One Piece.

A black flag with a grinning skull in a straw hat and crossed bones has been waved by protesters as a sign of resistance and rebellion.

The flag symbolizes defiance, freedom, non-conformity, and resisting an oppressive system. People used the flag along with hashtags, including hashtags like “#WAKEUPNEPAL” and “UNMUTE YOUR VOICE.”

Memes and viral moments were also used by the protesters, with one person performing the viral ‘aura farming’ boat-race dance atop a building engulfed in flames, while another held a placard that read, “So f**cked up, even the introverts are here”.
