Fitness and nutrition enthusiast, Kagan Dunlap, talks about the hurdles he encountered on his business journey and how he overcame them.
Kagan Dunlap is a fitness junkie and has been passionate about weight lifting and nutrition for the past thirteen years. Currently, he is busy finishing his Exercise and Sports science degree from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and is also setting up his Instagram business to help people achieve their body goals and provide them with diet plans if need be. He is quite busy setting up his training business through the social media platform so that he can help people that are looking to better themselves.
According to Kagan, the most difficult situation he has faced so far is publicity. Since the most common way to advertise oneself is by social media and commercialization, there is a very saturated market in regards to marketing; which is also the biggest step to make for any upcoming business.
“If people don’t know who you are and you aren’t interacting with people they aren’t going to discover who you are or give your company a chance. People are the most important resource for a business because if nobody is talking about you then nobody is going to know you exist, and if they don’t know you exist then you can’t help anyone,” says Dunlap.
Kagan eventually overcame this challenge through daily interactions. He prioritizes responding to people as fast as he can and letting them know that he is present and ready to help them meet their goals. Kagan offers a genuine service, and he wants it to feel more like a personable interaction as opposed to a canned response pattern.
“I’m not talking about giving lackluster responses, I’m talking about thoughtful intelligent caring responses that show you are genuinely interested,” explains Kagan.
