With the recent ban on plastic use in Maharashtra, the fact remains that plastic is one of the major contributors to the pollution of our environment.
In the wake of all this, it comes as a welcome surprise that an ordinary mechanical engineer is actually putting plastic to optimum use by turning it into fuel.
As per sources, more than 15,000 tonnes of plastic waste is generated in India every day out of which, 6000 tonnes remain uncollected and un-recycled!
Clearly plastic has become an integral part of our everyday lives but due to lack of awareness and unavailability of effective measures to recycle plastic waste, it continues to have a hazardous effect on our surroundings.
Plastic waste not only poisons the land as well as marine animals, but non-recycled plastic releases harmful chemicals that seep down into the ground and pollute groundwater which is one of the major sources of water in many parts of India.
So the fact that a mechanical engineer in Hyderabad has taken upon himself to save the environment by utilizing the already recycled plastic waste, instead of just doing a core mechanical job, is really commendable.
Let’s have a look at how Satish Kumar is able to implement his knowledge in saving the environment in a series of pictures:
