IAF Dinner Menu: Dishes Named After Terror Targets Hit During Operation Sindoor

-

The Indian Air Force, or IAF, recently celebrated its 93rd anniversary. Now, one might think that there is nothing major about it, just another organisation celebrating how many years it has been in service. However, a dinner menu shared from the festivities has gone viral, taking the internet by storm.

No, there is no 24-carat gold or precious gemstones embedded into the dinner cutlery, but what caught the eyes of many was the names of the dishes that were named after key targets hit during Operation Sindoor.

What Is This Viral Menu?

The Indian Air Force (IAF) was established on 8 October 1932. Now, 93 years later, the air arm of the Indian Armed Forces was celebrating that itself yesterday.

The dinner menu for this was shared by several people online, and the fact that many dishes on it were named after Pakistani cities targeted during India’s Operation Sindoor and 2019’s Operation Bandar made it go viral.

The dishes mentioned on the menu card included:

Main course

  • Rawalpindi Chicken Tikka Masala
  • Rafiqui Rhara Mutton
  • Bholari Paneer Methi Malai
  • Sukkur Sham Savera Kofta
  • Sargodha Dal Makhani
  • Jacobabad Mewa Pulao
  • Bahawalpur Naan

Dessert

  • Balakot Tiramisu
  • Muzaffarabad Kulfi Faluda
  • Muridke Meetha Pan

Operation Sindoor, carried out on May 7, 2025, was a response to the tragic Pahalgam terror attack on April 22, 2025.

The terror attack led to the death of 26 civilians, many of whom were tourists, in Jammu and Kashmir’s Pahalgam region. The Indian Armed Forces then went on to target nine terror hubs in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK).

These included:

  • Sawai Nala camp in Muzaffarabad
  • Syedna Bilal Camp in Muzaffarabad
  • Gulpur camp in Kotli
  • Barnala camp in Bhimber
  • Abbas camp in Kotli
  • Sarjal camp in Sialkot
  • Mehmoona Joya camp in Sialkot
  • Markaz Taiba camp in Muridke
  • Markaz Subhanallah in Bahawalpur

The ties between India and Pakistan also reached dire limits, with intense clashes occurring from both sides for four days, before both countries decided to engage in a ceasefire on May 10, 2025. Similarly, the Operation Bandar carried out in 2019 was in response to the Pulwama terror attack.

In Pulwama, terrorists attacked a convoy of CRPF personnel, in which 40 of them died. The resulting Balakot airstrike led to a training camp of the Jaish-e-Mohammad (JeM) group in Balakot being destroyed.
