New Delhi (India), January 18: Movies are full of stories of protagonists turning their traumas into triumphs. However, it is hard to come across such stories in real life. After all, it takes people of substance to beat all odds along with their inner demons and emerge successful in an increasingly competitive world. One such person is Shri Ramesh Gowani, who was a victim of personal tragedy early in life. However, if one looks at his portfolio of achievements now, it is hard to imagine what he has been through. Shri Gowani lost her father very early, and this left him devastated. Being shoved into a barrage of responsibilities so soon in life was not what he had imagined, but he took the challenge head-on and emerged victorious.
Being the son of a renowned builder, Shri Gowani had business acumen in his blood and upbringing. When Shri Ghamandiram Gowani died early, Mr Ramesh was left alone to figure out the responsibilities of the family and the nuances of business.
Amidst the grief, he worked hard and took Kamala Group to the heights it is today. He is revered as the primary force behind the success of Kamala Group and his philanthropic work has been appreciated far and wide.
In a recent tête-à-tête, Shri Gowani said that all this wouldn’t have been possible without the support of his mother, wife, and siblings. They offered him emotional support and guidance on his journey. His wife, Mrs Nidarshana Gowani, has recently been in the spotlight for her work for the upliftment of the underprivileged.
Whoever knows Mr Gowani through work or personal connections appreciates him for his down-to-earth attitude and a grounded approach towards life. He always worked intending to take his family name forward and thus instilled similar beliefs in his children.
He received guidance from his father for his first real estate project, La Papilo Mumbai. This was in the year 1978 when a young Mr Gowani stepped into business. That was just the beginning of all things big, and he has built a customer base comprising top Bollywood names, politicians, and businesspersons over the years.
Among his most notable projects is the Kamala Mills area in Mumbai, which is home to top corporates such as KPMG, PWC, NSL, IIFL, etc.
Kamala Mills started its operations in the year 1992 with its first business, cotton cloth manufacturing. With this, Mr Gowani ventured into international fashion and kickstarted the international fashion revolution in India. Mr Gowani’s fashion brand, Gabbana, was the pioneer in custom clothing and catered to international markets. They styled bigwigs like former prime minister Shri Manmohan Singh, Tatas, Birlas, and Bacchans.
Mr Gowani also registered his business presence in the field of travel and tourism with his brand CR Travel, which was an endeavour to connect tourism boards around the world.
Mr Gowani has been an active part of Kamala Trust, where they take up offbeat initiatives to help the underprivileged.
This inspirational journey is an example for others and can change the face of the world if everyone faced with challenges follows suit.
We congratulate Mr Gowani on his achievements and wish him luck in his future.
