Based in Toronto, Canada, Keyon is an Artist whose music dynamically reflects through his sound between the initials of hip-hop and the rhythms of R&B. Keyon, with his music is captivating the industry with a new refreshing taste while managing to maintain the essence of fun, originality and edge all at the same time. Unlike most Musicians, Keyon started off fairly young, at the age of 16. He started to hone his craft early, and begun to develop his own sense of originality while keeping his creativity continuously innovative with his music. Initially starting with the stage name “Kurtesy”, a nickname given to him by his father as take on the name Kurt Cobain from Nirvana, one of his biggest musical Idols. He later made the decision to continue his career under his given name Keyon. Sharing more insights into his early life, Keyon shares, “I remember as a child living in an apartment, my dad had the smallest studio space in the closet. That was sort of the foundation for me I guess, because that is where my dad had learned to produce on his own. My father had also enrolled me in piano lessons, but it wasn’t really something I was interested in at the time.” He continues, “Fast forward to when I was around 16, I actually learned how to make beats in cubase first before I learned about the FL studio DAW. Previously before I was 16, I wasn’t really into music, I was more into skateboarding and video games. After I learned I had a strong passion for music I taught myself how to play the guitar, bass & drums.”
Keyon put out his last mixtape “Summers Not Over” back in 2018 and is currently working on a new EP alongside a couple of singles. Keyon explains, most of his new material will produced, mixed and mastered by himself. His production aesthetics can be paralleled to the likes of Drake, The Weeknd and Travis Scott who are also a few of his biggest musical inspirations. Overall Keyon is an artist that people across the globe should familiarize themselves with as he is soon the be the newest, most impactful artist to hit the music industry.
