It’s February and half the football season has passed. The English Premier League has yet again proved that it can produce stunning games just as the other leagues. While the teams are competing to top the points table and qualify for The Champions League, not all is good. EPL had it’s share of setbacks which have emphasized the politics in the game and how slowly it has decimated the league’s prestige.
We have compiled the highlights of the season- good or bad for a quick revision before the upcoming match.
Cavani rejects Manchester United’s offer
Louis Van Gaal during the first transfer window expressed a desire to bring Cavani to Old Trafford. This desire never got fulfilled as Cavani signed a new contract with his current club thereby, extending his stay in France. Hope of seeing ‘Cavani tornado’ in Manchester United is still a hope. English grass has missed a golden opportunity and there is no doubt about it.
More bad news for Manchester United– No recruits
Van Gaal failed to recruit any player during the January transfer window and that’s a new low for Old Trafford! The team is already struggling on the field and they desperately needed a new combination of player to win them silver.
Manchester City on a winning spree
Neighbours Manchester City did the fabulous job of hiring Pep Guardiola. A trophy this season for City is almost confirmed. They have the Belgian Vincent Kompany to solidify this belief even further.
John Terry leaves Chelsea
If you miss the ‘good ol’ EPL’ then miss it some more. John Terry will no more be wearing the blue jersey. Chelsea will no more be Chelsea. John Terry decided to part ways with his club for over a decade not because of politics but because of politics. This news comes after the sacking of Jose Mourinho.*More tears* The only silver lining being they are at the top of the table. Meanwhile, Arsenal wishes John Terry joins them. Good or bad this ain’t the news you want to ponder much on.
RYAN GIGGS IS BEING MISSED!!!
That is how the season has been so far. Wish Chelsea maintains it’s lead and we get to see WOW matches more often. Often politics has disrupted the games and rumors of buying trophies have affected the prestige of the league on several occasions.
