CBSE Reveals Fake Social Media Accounts That Students Should Be Careful Of

In today’s time making a fake account or any account on the many social media platforms available is no big deal. Same with spreading misinformation through them to unsuspecting people who might believe it to be from an official source.

Recently, CBSE released a list of fake accounts that are impersonating the board and cautioned students from.

What Did CBSE Say?

The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has come out with a notice calling out 30 social media accounts and confirming that they are fake handles impersonating the board or giving information in the name of the board and should not be followed for any kind of information.

The notice clarified that the only official account for CBSE is the one with the handle @cbseindia29 and is the only one to be followed for official notices and information.

The board in an official notice named each of the 30 accounts claiming them to be fake and are not in any way representing CBSE even if they might have names and logos used in the display name and profile photo on the social media platform X/Twitter.

In a public advisory, CBSE wrote that “It has come to notice of the Central Board of Secondary Education that the following handles have been found to be using the name and/or logo of CBSE, with the view to mislead the general public on X (formerly Twitter).”

It further wrote “It is hereby informed that appropriate action is being initiated against these Social Media Handles. The public is hereby cautioned and advised to follow only the official X handle of CBSE, which is @cbseindia29 for verified and authentic information pertaining to CBSE.”

The notice also stated that “CBSE will not be responsible hereinafter for any information given by any other source using the name and logo of CBSE in any style on social media platforms and accessed by the public.”

Among the 30 fake Twitter handles that CBSE released that are being said to spread false information and cause confusion include:

  • @Cbse_official
  • @cbseboard
  • @CBSENEWSINDIA
  • @CBSEupdates
  • @CBSE_Results
  • @cbse_guide
  • @cbseexamresults
  • @cbse_news
  • @CBSE_HQ
  • @cbse_nic_in
  • @cbscExam
  • @CBSEINDIA

Considering the board exams of Class 10 and 12 are going to start on February 15 it is even more important for students to know exactly which is the official account to get the important information and not be misled by false news.

This seems to come among some other changes that the CBSE board has been making especially for this year’s board exams. One of them is to not give overall divisions, distinctions, or aggregates to the students, a move away from the traditional grading system and toward a more modern one.
