Dubai is known for having exotic, fast and highly modified cars. The streets are filled with supercars and hypercars like Ferrari’s, Lamborghini’s, Bentley’s etc. The police obviously need to keep up with such powerful vehicles and as a result the Dubai police is known to have a fleet of hypercars themselves. These include cars like the Nissan GT-R, Ferrari FF, Mercedes-Benz SLS-AMG, Aston Martin One-77, Lamborghini Aventador, Bentley Continental and even a Bugatti Veyron.

Their all-new acquisition is no less than the other cars in their fleet. It is the Brabus B63-S 700 Widestar. It debuted at the recently held Dubai Autoshow 2013 in the Dubai police livery. The Brabus B63-S 700 Widestar is based on the Mercedes-Benz G63 AMG, which is already an extremely powerful and performance-oriented vehicle. Getting it tuned by Brabus has taken it’s performance to a whole new level altogether.

Brabus B63-S engine

The stock G63 AMG’s 5.5-liter, twin-turbocharged V-8 petrol engine produces 536bhp of power which is already quite a lot. However, Brabus have tuned and modified it and as a result the same engine will now produce a mighty 700 horses. With that kind of power, Brabus claim that the B63-S 700 Widestar will do 0-62 mph in 4.9 seconds and reach a top speed of 149 mph, more than sufficient to keep up with those hypercars. Cosmetic modifications made on the Brabus B63-S include a wide body kit, 23-inch wheels and the Dubai police livery. These modifications make it look pretty intimidating on top of the stock G-Class’ boxy military bodywork.

Of course we all feel that with cars such as the Brabus B63-S 700 Widestar, the Dubai police are just trying to make a statement and all this is just a publicity stunt. But Brabus and the Dubai Police actually have serious plans for it. They plan to use the SUV to promote the “Tune It! Safe!” campaign, which aims to encourages drivers to modify their cars in a safe and legal manner. The program was initially started in Germany, but now it makes it’s way to the UAE as there seem to be a lot more modified rides out here.
