The country lost a very important personality on Wednesday when the passing of Ratan Tata, the chairman emeritus of the Tata Sons was announced.
The Indian industrialist and philanthropist passed away at the age of 86. He was known worldwide for his business acumen and for taking his great-grandfather’s hundred-year-old company to great heights for his charity and humble nature.
On 10 October 2024, Ratan Tata was given a state funeral, with his last rites being held at the Worli crematorium. He was wrapped in the Indian flag and given a 21-gun salute during his final rites.
The office of Mumbai’s chief minister also declared a one-day mourning period, with no state celebrations being held for the day. Government buildings put the national flag at half-mast and cultural or entertainment programmes were postponed to another day.
Ratan Tata’s funeral was attended by several dignitaries and important country personalities, including Union Home Minister Amit Shah, Union Minister Piyush Goyal, Maharashtra CM Eknath Shinde, Deputy CM Devendra Fadnavis, Mukesh Ambani, Kumar Mangalam Birla, Adi Godrej, Cricketer Sachin Tendulkar, and more.
However, it was intriguing to see that besides a few, many of the A-list celebrities were missing from the media coverage of the funeral. As per reports, they were apparently at other events or attending the Durga Puja festivities. Strangely, however, none of these people could spare some time to attend the funeral of such an important person.
Ranbir Kapoor
Ranbir Kapoor was caught by paparazzi leaving a hair studio early in the day and then again photographed while being present at a Durga Puja pandal with Rani Mukherjee.

This was surprising considering now, since not only is she the wife of Amitabh Bachchan, someone who was close to Ratan Tata, but also as a Samajwadi Party MP, she should have attended it.
Ratan Tata’s first and only venture into Bollywood was with the 2004 film Aetbaar which starred Amitabh Bachchan, John Abraham, and Bipasha Basu. He co-produced the film, however, unlike his other ventures, the film was a box-office failure.
The film was made at a budget of Rs. 9.5 crore made less than Rs. 5 crore in opening week and collectively earned just Rs. 8 crore. Ratan Tata never entered into the cinema space after that.
Shilpa Shetty
Shilpa Shetty was also caught by paparazzi attending a dinner with her husband Raj Kundra.

Along with all these, Hrithik Roshan was also seen attending a dinner party, while Sushmita Sen was photographed at a Durga Puja pandal.
Who Did Attend?
It was quite surprising to see that only a few Bollywood celebrities attended Ratan Tata’s funeral. These included Aamir Khan, Kiran Rao, and Rajpal Yadav, who attended the funeral at the Worli Crematorium on Dr E Moses Road or paid a visit to his residence.
Aamir Khan speaking with the media said, “Today is a sad day for all of us, and the whole country. What he has done for the nation through his company under his leadership is priceless. He was a rare person. We all will miss him a lot.”
Rajpal Yadav also said, “Dadabhai Naoroji taught us the vision of life, while Ratan Tata taught us how to run a business and engage in social welfare. He also taught us that whatever we think, we should think for the earth, and whatever we do, we should do it for the people.”
Dilji Dosanjh was performing at his concert in Germany for his Dil-Luminati Tour. However, he stopped mid-concert to pay tribute to the visionary industrialist.
In a video shared by fans, he is seen speaking in Punjabi saying, “You all know Ratan Tata. He died and this is my small tribute to him. I felt necessary to take his name today because all his life, he worked hard. Whatever I have heard and read of him, I never seen him speak anything wrong about anyone.”
Diljit Dosanjh stopped his concert in Germany midway to pay his tributes to #RatanTata who passed away last night.

He added, “He has always worked hard in his life, did good work and helped people. This is life, this is how one should be. If there is one thing we can learn from his life, it is that we should work hard, think positive, be helpful and live life to its fullest.”
