The two of the most fascinating segments of automotive world have to be the sports cars and the racing cars. Think of how amazing would it be to fuse the two segments together to form one glorious car. Yes, the idea may seem lame and impractical to you but it doesn’t to Audi because they have launched a new RS (Racing Sports) car and it is called- AUDI RS6 AVANT.
Audi India today launched RS6 Avant, a high performance estate car with an extremely powerful engine in presence of Indian cricketer, Virat Kohli.
Earlier we saw Mercedes dethroning Audi as the number one luxury car manufacturer in India in first quarter of 2015 and I guess Audi took it way too seriously. First we saw new Audi TT and now another high performance car, RS6 Avant to boost their sales.
DESIGN:
The German automaker has kept the unique “estate shape” as the USP of the car. The car has been beautifully sculptured with big black trapezoidal honeycomb grille with a RS6 logo and a bold QUATTRO embossed on the lower part of it. I’m totally in love with this frontal look of the car!
The car also boasts of 20 inch alloy wheels polished in black and silver to give the titanium look, contrast mirror paint and two huge exhausts under the rear bumper.
The new RS 6 Avant is also up with an adjustable air suspension system with which you can lower the body by 20 millimeters (0.79 in) for better aerodynamics even at higher speeds. Ahh! I love such aggressive moves.
The speedometer and tachometer of the car features the RS familiar black background with white dials and fiery red needles. The three spoke feature studded steering wheel and high resolution Driver Information System (DIS) display are dominant enough to impress you.
ENGINE & PERFORMANCE:
Though the four ringed badge on the car’s bonnet is enough to buy it but if that is not good enough for you then let me just tell you that heart of the car is a 4.0-litre turbocharged V8 Quattro engine that will dissipate power of 552 horses and 71.4kgm of torque to all four wheels. The powertrain is mated to an eight-speed tiptronic automatic gearbox with D and S (Drive and Sport) modes.
You also like the thrill of manual shifting like me? Need not worry because Audi is providing the option of manual paddle shift below the steering wheel itself.
This combination enables the car to sprint 0-100 km/h in just 3.9 seconds with a top speed of 250 km/h. No this isn’t over yet. The car will be available with an optional Dynamic Plus Pack as well which will tune the performance of the car to enhance its top speed to 305 km/h.
PRICE TAG:
The Audi RS6 Avant has been priced at INR 1.35 crore (ex-showroom Delhi) and I’ve no idea how many zeros it’ll carry but it is way too much.
VERDICT:
If I have to give a one line review then I would say that if you have one and a half crore and all you need is a high performance car then your search should end on this staggering estate car considering you don’t have any issues with the shape of the car.
