Arvind Kejriwal Trolled For Asking PM To Put Laxmi & Ganesh Photo On Indian Currency

Arvind Kejriwal has been in the news recently, but it seems not always for the right kind of reasons. Just some time ago Kejriwal and the AAP government was under question for their liquor policy in Delhi and various other decisions taken in that regard.

He was called out for the policy and now he is being trolled for his comments saying on how the images of Goddess Lakshmi and Lord Ganesh should be put on the Indian currency notes.

The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and Congress have also used this opportunity to fling a lot of mud and sarcastic comments towards Kejriwal with BJP MP Manoj Tiwari at a press conference saying that “Their (AAP) party leaders, the party’s Gujarat state unit president and AAP ministers have abused Hindu Gods and Goddesses and have said many things but they are still in their party. Now, what will they do in upcoming polls? So for their face-saving, they are coming up with new conspiracies. Those who objected to Ram Mandir have come with a new mask.”

What Has Arvind Kejriwal Said?

Addressing a press conference on Wednesday, the AAP national convenor and Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal said that he plans to ask Prime Minister Narendra Modi to include photos of Lakshmi and Ganesh, two Hindu idols, in order to bring “prosperity” to the country.

He said “We can all see that our economy is not recovering. We all want India to become a developed country and for that lot of work needs to be done. But all efforts will be only successful when there will be gods and goddesses’ grace on us.

Today, I appeal to the Central Government that our currency has a picture of Gandhi ji on one side, it should be kept as it is, but on the other side, pictures of Lakshmi ji and Ganesh ji should be included.”

Giving the reason that these gods represent wealth and prosperity Kejriwal said that “Every day new currency notes are printed. These pictures can be added then,” commenting that the current currency doesn’t have to change instead the new notes can have this additional photos in them.

He further added that Indonesia can be seen as an example of this saying “Indonesia is a Muslim country. Above 85% of the population are Muslims and there are only less than 2% Hindus. But they have image of Ganeshji printed on their notes… We are not talking against anyone… This is about everyone’s and country’s prosperity.”

He commented that “If there is a photo of Lakshmi-Ganesha on our currency (notes), our country will prosper. I will write to (the) prime minister in a day or two on this.”

Kejriwal stated this based on the current situation of the depreciating rupee against the US dollar and India’s foreign exchange reserves that saw a two-year low dip that stands at $528.367 billion compared to the precious weeks $532.868 billion as per RBI data.
