So 2017 is nearly coming to an end. Some amazing fashion trends continued this year while a few even came back! But, you know what is it time for? CHANGE.
Here’s to hopefully saying our last words to these trends we are completely tired of. Let us take a look.
- CHOKERS: THE DOG COLLARS
For those who have worn it, they know how uncomfortable it is to keep that dog collar hanging around your neck. Fair enough to say, it was quite a year for chokers with celebrities popularising them, from the Kardashians to our very own B-Town celebs. But enough of it in this year, let’s say R.I.P to itchy, uncomfortable chokers.
- RIPPED ENOUGH TO SHAKE MY FAITH JEANS
Who conceived the idea of making a cloth that cannot even hold itself? A few days ago, my friend who was wearing her newly bought ripped jeans ripped it even more as it caught hold of a pointed nail and the rip made space for a further rip finally making it a torn piece of clothing. Hopefully, they’d make a nice pair of shorts.
What a world to be in, even my clothes have started betraying me.
Say adieu to this style before the year ends!
- THE HIGH SLIT THAT ISN’T MAKING ANY CUT
ENOUGH OF HIGH SLITS ALREADY! Aren’t we tired of seeing so many celebrities wearing a high slit dress at red carpets, like daily. Where is variety, where are the style statements, if they all are the same?
C’mon designers think of something else for your clients!
Say good riddance to it now!
- TRACKSUITS OR SACKSUITS?
Now do not get me wrong on this. You’d say how harmful can a daily wear be? They’re comfortable but they aren’t the only thing left in your wardrobe. How deceptive can it be to see every other person in a tracksuit or pajama thinking they might be working out, but oh they’re not! THEY JUST WORE IT….
People if you’re not clearly hitting the gym or going for a walk, wear pants and shirts like the rest of us.
- SEE THROUGH DRESSES WE DON’T WANT TO SEE ANYMORE
Sheer dresses were a hit especially in 2016 and continued to amaze us this year too. You could spot so many celebs and models wearing them. But it’s time we don’t get to see the more or less similar outfits.

- PINK (START SAYING NO!)
No, not the movie, but the colour itself. It’s like our celebrities can’t really have enough of the Disney princess feel. Everything is so pink everywhere as if their life is just a larger version of a cotton candy.
Please say hello to some new colours, they do exist.
- CROCS AKA SHOES FOR DUCKS
Why do people wear crocs? Yes, those plastic, kinda larger from toes kind of footwear. Wear slippers for comfort or wear a shoe if you want to cover your feet. Why Crocs? And god forbid if they get wet, the water inside it is like ‘STAYIN ALIVE, STAYIN ALIVE’.
If you can’t use it to your comfort why wear them? Clearly, they can’t be worn for any other purpose like a party or for running. As for the daily purpose, it’s not helping.
- VERY LONG NAILS (CAUTION: WITCHES ROAMING AROUND)
NOTE: Productive in kitchen and helpful for defence.
Keeping your nails clean and clipped is a very healthy habit, however, a little freedom is given in the name of ‘fashion’ to have really long nails. Long nails beyond our imagination. Drawbacks? Well, they are difficult to maintain, harmful for not just you but to people around you too and most importantly NOT HEALTHY.
- #INSTAGRAM WEDDINGS
As if inviting thousands of people to your wedding functions wasn’t satisfactory, you started selling a very precious moment of your life, out there on a public domain. This year, this trend was on the top of the list. But, we are tired of hashtagging people’s weddings and it’s time this unnecessary trend dies out.
- THE SWAG WALI TOPI
Just days after I had completely lost memories of ‘Dhinchak Pooja’ I happened to watch the trailer of ‘Qarib Qarib Singlle’ which opens with Irrfan Khan wearing a cap which has this word written on it: SWAG.
And you know what I did? I paused it and then resumed after I could digest it but then it made another appearance and I was done for the day. No, it’s not cool, it isn’t.
Wear a cap with SWAG not the ‘Swag wali topi’.
As 2017 ends, we hope to never see of the swag wali topi and this cringe pop sensation!
