November 13: What happens when veterans from a multitude of fields such as Mathematics, Environment, Finance, Movies and General Knowledge share a platform? Massive doses of knowledge exchange, of course. But does it get dreary along the way? Not when it is an interactive and engaging quiz show that provides meaningful content but in an enjoyable manner and is hosted by Gaurav Kapur, the celebrity television presenter. A heady mix of learning and earning while entertaining! That’s just what the show You V YouTube offers.
A YouTube Original produced by Fremantle, You V YouTube, was launched on 9th October 2021. New episodes are launched every Saturday and Sunday at 7 pm. Its mantra is, Play, Learn and Earn. The participants to this show are chosen through an online audition process and are deemed, Challengers. They are then quizzed on ten widely ranged topics by a creator bench. The subject-matter experts asking the questions are Roshni Mukherjee (Science), Gaurav Garg (General Knowledge), Ganesh Pai (Mathematics), Ceema Picardo (English), Arun Krishnamurthy (Environment), Gaurav Choudhary (Technology), Nidhi Mohan (Health & Wellness), Reena D’Souza (Sports), Sucharita Tyagi (Movies & Music), Ranveer Brar (Food), Rachana Ranade (Finance) and Tanya Khanijow (Travel). All of them are prominent YouTube creators who are experts in their own fields and have millions of followers. While the first nine of them are the permanent creators asking the first nine questions, Ranveer, Rachana and Tanya are the guest creators of the show, with one of them springing the last “wildcard” question on the challengers. Each challenger stands to win over ten lakh rupees in the show.
Every episode is packed with loads of fun, and Gaurav’s wisecracks keep the contestants, guests and viewers in their elements. Some of the hilarious, worth-watching-in-loop moments are Gaurav calling Omkar Amruthanshu, one of the contestants, Omkarpedia because he is a UPSC aspirant and has stacked himself up with knowledge on most of the subjects, Sucharita giving a demo on how to fire a Brahmastra, the deadly missile with a matching facial expression, a contestant on a winning spree being hailed a “blue-chip stock”, Gaurav calling the book “The Life of Pi”, Ganesh Pai’s biography (as in The Life of Pai), Rachana, the finance expert, hearing the “acid” in a Chemistry question as “asset” (no kidding!) and so on. It also has plenty of nail-biting moments, especially during the Gold-Tier round when the challenger’s inch towards the grand prize and the questions begin to get tougher along the way. For instance, in one of the episodes, the challenger is not sure of how many greenhouse gases are considered dangerous according to the Kyoto Protocol but answers six without any logical explanation behind it. His answer turns out to be, well, we don’t want to play spoilsports here, do we? It would be so much more fun to watch the show, get your heartbeat to rise to a frenzy and then learn the right answer. Or better still, if you know the answer, you could be the next challenger in the show, fielding questions from the grandmasters and bagging prizes along the way!
