In Trust, We Moyes !

MOYES 1

By Akmal Farooq

“In Trust, We Moyes” as bizarre as it is, rival fans are putting it on the face of Manchester United fans to poke in their pains as they struggle to live up to the performances in the past years. As Manchester united fans extending their trust in David Moyes chanting and putting posters of “In Moyes, We Trust”, Moyes has been a laughing target as Manchester United have been crawling in their Campaign to defend their title as Premier League Champions.

For the most famous club in the world, the shift of power was such a big talking point. Football fans and experts have array of observational opinions like he does not have the prowess to manage such a big club, or he needs time to implement his way at united, or injuries to the best players are not allowing him to full fill the expectations. Yes, as  a Man Utd fan, I could only try to extend my support to this man but see, Sir Alex Ferguson managed the same squad to the glory, I don’t know if it’s only me  but my Sherlock mind says it’s a classic case of mismanagement. Credit has to go to Mr David Moyes. From constant benching of Kawaga( midfielder known for creativity ), to his tussle with Zaha for personal reasons, and not being able to succeed in buying any high profile player in summers.

Hold on, enjoyed the bashing. But there is second side of all of this. Don’t you feel it’s rather unfair that he had to replace probably the best manager ever in club football history at the most famous club team in the world? Many supporters firmly believe that he is the right person to manage this club including Sir Alex Ferguson himself. Anyways it’s not Chelsea where a pocket of bad performances would mean sacking of manager. History of Manchester united suggest they support their manager through both bad and good times.

We do not know for sure how the fate would swing but the recent transfer gossips promises a change. According to various news sources, Moyes is ready to spend quite a fortune to fix the problems at the Old Trafford. As a matter of fact, the official confirmation of transfer of Juan Mata is thrilling, although at some cost (37 million pounds), but does it solve the problems at Old Trafford? Indeed it’s a good signing but real problem of a central midfielder and a left back is still unsolved which further question if Moyes is losing his focus under pressure. If there are no further singings to solve these problems, it is going to be a Hercules task for him to manage this squad to glory.

Champions league is a big prestige issue for a big club such as Man Utd, so the scenario does not look too bright for Moyes as he will need to finish in top 4 in the Premier League table which is looking a task in itself let alone winning or he will have to miraculously win the Champions League (just like Chelsea did two seasons back) to qualify for next year. From Mourniho saying, “Manchester united can come back from any setback “, we Man Utd fans also put our faiths in our team to achieve glory.
