Celebrating their 20 years at the Geneva International Motor Show, Tata Motors have unveiled their new electric sedan that is based on their new alpha platform.
Having an extremely futuristic look that has never been seen before for Indian cars, the E-Vision is supposed to go into production by 2020.
Rajendra M Petkar, CTO & Head Power System Engineering at Tata Motors has said how there will soon be a time when electric cars will become the norm. He also said that,
“There has to be adequate localisation for battery costs to come down. We believe that between 2020 and 2025, there will be an inflection point where electric vehicles will see faster adoption. We have to be ready for that scenario.”
Even Guenter Butschek, CEO and Managing Director of Tata Motors at the launch of the model, said that, “We are committed to the mission of electric mobility and are working to build sustainable future.”
However, at least the look of the model of E-Vision resembles the Tesla cars a lot, and is perhaps a bit of a let-down in the creative department.
Considering the kind of turnabout they have given to the Land Rover and the Sedan class in India and internationally, I certainly expected something different from Tata Motors than just taking up an already loved design and barely tweaking it.
