Swearing in the name of almighty, my health and all the beautiful things in this world I confess that till 7th of July 2014 I didn’t watch any FIFA world cup match in my life. I wasn’t ever interested in watching football. But like everyone else I had a bunch of cousins who were crazy after the FIFA world cup. And they did something that all crazy cousins do, they dragged me into their craziness and I couldn’t help it! And the very next hour we were all glued to the T.V. screen to watch the grand semi-final of FIFA 2014 between Brazil and Germany. Before the game began I gathered some football facts from my brother. He told me that Brazil is dressed in yellow while Germany in red and black and they have to put the ball into the net to make a goal. And I thought of knocking his head off sometime later, I mean ‘Hey bro! I know what a goal is.’
I wasn’t supporting any team but all my cousins supported Brazil and I thought that it would be the “best” team and would eventually win the match. And the match began. In the first seven minutes I got bored. All I could see was so many hot guys running after a ball. Lucky ball! But just a few minutes later I saw this guy in red and black make a goal. He was not from Brazil and this fact shocked my cousins. His close-up was shown on the screen and Oh my God! He is so cute. While I was discovering my new crush my cousins were discussing things like –“his shirt reads 13 that’s why this unlucky goal” and “maybe Brazil has a different strategy this time”. Ten more minutes passed with my new crush running after that lucky ball. And then another goal, again it wasn’t Brazil. One minute later Germany strikes another goal. One more by Germany after two minutes. And then after three minutes the score was 0-5. What a progression! My brother couldn’t believe his eyes and he thought that he had developed dyslexia! And then few minutes later there was a sound similar to a train’s horn that indicated half time.
Focusing on Brazil, the host’s team, I came to know that it was a five times world champion. Losing for them was like getting humiliated at one’s own party. Well that’s life. Nothing can be prejudged. Ending optimistically I was just wondering that like other teams that lost at least there’s no going home for Brazil!
