Fair & Lovely’s New Name Is Making Twitterati Crazy With Memes And Jokes

Ah, the day we had been waiting for is finally here. Well… sort of.

As per the latest reports, after years and years of campaigning, mocking, trolling and bashing, the cosmetic brand Fair & Lovely has finally changed its name.

The Hindustan Unilever Limited (HUL) owned brand has now become ‘Glow & Lovely’ had decided to take this step to be more inclusive.

In a company statement, they stated that, “Over the next few months, Glow & Lovely will be on the shelves, and future innovations will deliver on this new proposition. The Men’s range of Fair & Lovely will be called ‘Glow & Handsome’.”

Frankly, this had been a long time coming and especially in the Indian market which is one of its biggest consumers. For decades and decades now Bollywood actors and actresses have often endorsed this brand where girls and guys would be shown that having dark skin was the cause of all their problems.

The only way they could turn their life around, be it romantically, professionally or in any other area would be to use that specific cream and become ‘fair’.

Because light skin leads to a light future. *sarcasm*

Twitter though is having a gala time with this new name and is up to its usual job of either making memes or jokes about how ridiculous it still is.
