Everything You Need To Know About The Third COVID-19 Wave In India

All we need to know about the third wave!

India is suffering from the second wave of COVID-19 which hit India around mid-March and increased rapidly, reaching more than 4 lac recorded cases daily.

The second wave of COVID -19 is still spreading wider and becoming deadlier than before. There was a fall in the number of daily cases but it was due to a fall in testing.

There are speculations from experts that a third wave of the pandemic might be hitting the country soon. Let’s have a look at what that means for us.

What Do The Health Experts Have To Say About The Third Wave? 

The health experts have warned us that a third wave is ‘inevitable’ in the country. They also said that the third wave of COVID cases is expected in 6-8 months from now and its impact could be softened if the people and government take strong measures.

“It will be localized and many people will not be affected because they will enjoy immunity from vaccinations,” said Professor Agarwal, who is one of the experts behind the projections. He also added that there will not be a third wave until October 2021.

“We will possibly see another wave, but I am hopeful that by that time because a large number of people will get vaccinated, the wave may not be as big as the current wave of coronavirus and it will be easier to manage,” AIIMS Director Dr. Randeep Guleria said recently.

The government’s principal scientific advisor, K Vijay Raghavan, on Wednesday advised that as the virus mutates further, it is necessary to be prepared for the new waves. Even the Supreme Court on Thursday asked the Centre to start preparing for the third wave of COVID-19 and revamp its formula for the distribution of oxygen across the country.

Third-wave will not hit children harder

  • The country’s health advisers warned us about the possibility of the third wave along with other infections.

  • Phase 3 is inevitable. It is not clear on what time scale this phase 3 will occur.

  • Hopefully, most of the citizens will be vaccinated and the government will take strong measures hence, the third blow might be softened.

  • Infections and vaccinations are likely to cause ‘adaptive pressure’ on the SARS CoV-2 virus, accelerating new kinds of changes.

  • Variants of concern represent promising modifications and are activated by the human population. It is crucial to do everything to prevent the spread of the virus.

  • Over the past weeks, there has been a striking rise in the number of fungal infections reported in India, which many feel is the newest epidemic we are facing.

  • People with compromised immunity are the most susceptible to the risks and complications associated with fungal infections right now, like the black yellow, and white fungus.

  • There is no indication that the third wave will impact children more severely.
Be responsible for yourself and do the needful to avoid getting infected

Precautions To Evade The Third Wave: 

  • There will be the possibility of the third wave until and unless there are human hosts, there will be the risk of the infection occurring again and again. The only way to reduce exposure is through safe practices and vaccination.
  • Experts suggest the need to adapt to COVID-appropriate behavior.

  • The virus spread through human transmission, hence following the COVID-19 protocols and guidelines is necessary. Wearing masks and social distancing is the need of the hour.

  • Please be responsible for yourself masks, distancing, hygiene, vaccination and tracking your oxygen level, and containment are pillars that stop the chain of virus transmission.

As India’s healthcare infrastructure is on the verge of collapsing, every one of us needs to be responsible for ourselves and we should follow COVID-19 safety protocols and guidelines and do as much as possible to keep ourselves and our loved ones safe.
