ED VoxPop: Will The Long Lines Outside Banks Result In Something Good? #ByeByeBlackMoney

Prime Minister Narendra Modi managed to shake the very ground of almost every Indian with his speech on November 8th, 2016. Ever since the announcement, people have been going haywire in the sheer desperation for two things – converting their black money to white, or in the need for money to meet their daily requirements.

We at ED, did a little ground work to understand what the people actually thought of the movement, the difficulties they have been facing and most importantly if they actually believe that this would help in bringing about a change, at all.

Here is what they had to say.

And it’s not only the people living in India but also our dear NRIs who have been affected by this move…

It is also important to realise that apart from the ‘common man’ it is also a huge change for the banks functioning in India, and here is their take on handling the entire situation

In all these conversations, and much more that has been circulating in the past few days, it can be well established that the people are facing a lot of inconveniences, and are also losing their patience, but they are not angry with the abrupt step taken by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

Standing in long queues at banks for hours on end has been accepted because of desperation for money and also because of the fact that at least this government has taken a solid step to move towards a ‘cleaner’ India. And this support does not end by standing in queues at banks. Restaurants and hotels, be it big or small, have issued notices following government orders, to not accept 500 and 1000 rupees bills.

Every day till December 30th is going to bring out a new perspective on the move made by our Prime Minister. Not all will be sweet, but it will definitely be something we all have been waiting for.
