Breakfast Babble: A Good Hair Day Is Everything I Wish For

Breakfast Babble: ED’s own little space on the interwebs where we gather to discuss ideas and get pumped up for the day. We judge things too. Sometimes. Always. Whatever, call it catharsis and join in people.

Remember when Phoebe Waller-Bridge, the writer and female protagonist of the 2016 BBC comedy-drama “Fleabag,” said, “Hair is everything. We wish it wasn’t so we could actually think about something else occasionally. But it is.

It’s the difference between a good day and a bad day. We’re meant to think that it’s a symbol of power, that it’s a symbol of fertility. Some people are exploited for it and it pays your fucking bills. Hair is everything.”

It makes me feel like hair is more than just hair. Hair is beauty, time, money, strength, and health. Anyone with a lock of hair on their head will understand the complicated relationship we share with it. It is never in our control. We define our good days and bad days with respect to the look of our hair.

Hair is so powerful, particularly for women, as it regulates our emotions and influences our mood swings. We often refuse to acknowledge it, but we are obsessed with our hair. A lot can be known about a person from his or her hair. Our identity eminently depends on our hairstyle.

A good hair day is everything I wish for. Some mornings you can get out of bed with a fresh mind and an optimistic attitude, all set and prepared to fight your way through the day, but if your hair looks bad, you know your day is ruined already. You feel like sinking back under the blankets and staying at home. Of course, hair is that important and personal.

A good hair day is my motivation and mental support to do my daily chores. It makes me feel confident about myself and everything around me. It boosts my energy and gives me the courage to face difficult situations and people every day. It is true that if we look good on the outside, we feel good on the inside.

Hair is one of the most salient features we notice first in a person. Hair plays a very significant role in creating our first impressions. Some people have such peculiar and unique hairstyles that we remember them by their hair. Most importantly, a good hair day can make you feel comfortable and organized about your life. On the contrary, a bad hair day simply ruins your mood and crushes your spirit.

Hair transformations can sometimes be very symbolic in the lives of people. We change our hair to change certain prospects in our lives or simply to start afresh. This is why salon sessions are so peaceful and rejuvenating; it is where we go to unburden our emotional baggage. I can’t help but agree with Phoebe Waller-Bridge here: “Hair is everything.”

Good hair days are very important and rare at the same time. This is the reason a new haircut always brings a smile to one’s face.
