The much-awaited results of the Gujarat elections are out and apart from the obvious victory of BJP (although Congress gave it a tough competition this time); the person who stood out in the entire scenario is Jignesh Mevani.
Known to be the voice of the marginalized Dalits in Gujarat, Jignesh Mevani has definitely succeeded in creating a place for himself in politics. Fighting independently from the constituency of Vadgam, he has managed a handsome victory beating the incumbent BJP clearing the way for his debut in Indian politics.
This is a huge victory not only for him but all the poor Dalit families who are unable to raise their voices against the discrimination and injustice administered towards them by the so-called gau rakshaks.
So I think it is high time we know a couple of things about Jignesh Mevani who has proved with this election that he is a force to be reckoned with and he is not going to let the Dalit agitation fizz out just like that!
