With 45% Women-Led Startups In India, Here’s Looking At Top Women Entrepreneurs 2021

India's top women entrepreneurs 2021

The past few decades in India have seen a significant increase in independent women coming up and being a part of the uprise of the Indian economy. 

Among a lot of startups, 45% are currently being led by women as per the recent data provided by the commerce ministry. It brings us to the very fact that women, given an equal chance, can accomplish anything.

Without further ado, I bring to you some of the top Indian women entrepreneurs of 2021. Let’s celebrate women and the endless potential they have.

Vandana Luthra 

Vandana Luthra, Founder, VLCC

A businesswoman, philanthropist, and chairperson of the Beauty & Wellness Sector Skill Council (B&WSSC), Vandana Luthra is the woman behind VLCC, a famous beauty and slimming service center. 

She is a Padma Shri awardee and chairs an NGO called Khushii that provides free education to the underprivileged and special children. 

Kiran Mazumdar Shaw

Kiran Mazumdar Shaw, Founder, Biocon Limited

She is one of the most prominent self-made women entrepreneurs in India. The founder of an R&D-based biopharmaceutical firm called Biocon that has entered the US biosimilars market, Kiran has been on the Forbes’ list for being the first Indian company to be approved by USFDA. 

She has had the titles of being Indian’s 54th richest person and the world’s 65th most powerful woman.

Priya Paul

Priya Paul, Chair, Park Hotels

The chair of Apeejay Surrendra park hotels, Priya Paul is one of the most influential women entrepreneurs. She is known to have received the Padma Shri Award. 

Ritu Kumar

Ritu Kumar, Fashion Designer

One of the most prominent fashion designers of India, Ritu Kumar has made her place in the international market with an elite class of clothing. Being a Padma Shri Awardee, hers is a distinguished brand.

Suchi Mukherjee

Suchi Mukherjee, Founder & CEO, Limeroad

Founder of Limeroad, an online shopping website for clothing and a lifestyle accessory brand. The brand is known for being India’s most stylish online shopping website. Suchi has been awarded various awards, like the “Coolest start-up of the year (from Business Today), “Infocom Woman of the Year” (Digital Business) and “Unicorn Start-up Award” (NDTV).

Indra Nooyi

Indra Nooyi, Board Member, Amazon

The former CEO of PepsiCo, Indra Nooyi is, at present, a part of Amazon’s board of directors. She was also the product manager at Johnson & Johnson and a strategy consultant for  Boston Consulting Group.

Indra has been titled the “World’s 11th powerful woman”, as per Forbes.

Aditi Gupta

Aditi Gupta, Co-Founder, Menstrupedia

An author and co-founder of Menstrupedia, Aditi, along with her husband, has been working on comic books for girls to educate them about menstruation. Her website has done wonders. 

Menstrupedia collaborated with Whisper India for the “Touch the Pickle” program. Schools like Bright English School Ahmedabad, Ecole Mondiale World School, GLS Primary school use their comics.

 Falguni Nayar

Falguni Nayar, Founder, Nykaa

After quitting as an investment banker with Kotak Mahindra, Falguni Nayar started the famous company Nykaa, known for its online cosmetic and wellness products. 

A rave among beauty gurus and makeup enthusiasts of all ages, her company has around 850 brands and 35 physical stores. Nykaa has been titled “The most powerful business” by Business Today and Falguni has received the “Woman Ahead Award” at the Economic Times.

Vani Kola

Vani Kola, Founder, Kalaari Capital

A venture capitalist and founder & managing director of Kalaari Capital, Vani Kola is also the founder of Rightwork and Certus software. She has also partnered with NEA (New Enterprise Associates). 

As for the awards, Vani won the “TiE Delhi-NCR 5th Edition of Women Entrepreneurship Summit Award”. She has also won the “NDTV Women of Worth Award” for entrepreneurship.

Radhika Ghai

Radhika Ghai, Co-Founder, Shopclues

With a great marketing experience in Fashion & lifestyle, advertising & public relations, and various other industries, Radhika is the co-founder of Shopclues, a company with the largest fully managed marketplace.

It has over 7 million visitors each month. It also serves more than 9000 cities.
