Watch: This Museum Lets You Experience The Entirety Of South India In One Day

For the last time, all South Indians are not Madrasis!

I have come across many comedians pointing out how Indians have an unforgivable habit of homogenizing South Indian cultures, for instance, calling a person from Kerala Madrasi and assuming that everyone speaks Tamil in the Southern region of India.

I have experienced such misconceptions myself, and I believe that it stems from the lack of an initiative by people to learn how they can achieve cultural sensitivity and increase their awareness and knowledge about cultures.

However, it can be a bit boring or dry to go back to your textbooks and start reading up on these intricacies. In fact, it also makes one realise how unrealistic and impractical it can be to study and understand the traditions and values of different cultures through textual sources.

What if I told you that you could study about all the Southern states in India and go on a vacation at the same time?

DakshinaChitra is a heritage village, or a living museum, in Chennai which offers tourists the possibility of exploring the landscape of all the four states – Tamil Nadu, Kerala, Andhra Pradesh (including Telangana), and Karnataka in one day!

Watch the video below to catch a glimpse of the museum before you can plan your next field trip!
