Watch: These Indians Set A Mark In The World By Winning Nobel Prizes

The Nobel Prize is considered the most prestigious award in the world. Every year, dozens of people from all over the world are awarded this prize in the month of December. The announcement of winners takes place in October.

The Nobel Prize is awarded in the fields of Physics, Chemistry, Peace, Economic Sciences, Literature, and, Physiology/Medicine. It happened for the first time in 1901. It was in 1913, however, that it was awarded to an Indian for the first time.

Rabindranath Tagore was the first Indian to bag the award in the field of literature. The last Indian to have achieved this feat was Abhijit Banerjee in 2019. He won it in the field of economics, along with Esther Duflo and Michael Kremer.

Over the years, several other Indians have made the country proud by bagging this prestigious award. Thanks to them, we have made a mark in every field from science to peace.
