Watch: Movies Inspired By The Works Of Indian Authors

Books or movies, we love them equally!

“Never judge a book by the movie.”

Many cinema lovers say that movies bring stories to life, and it’s true because literature always finds its way to the screen. Many novels have been adapted into films, which so many people are unaware of.

In 2020, we saw many word-to-screen adaptations. A Suitable Boy, The White Tiger, Scam 1992, and Serious Men are some of the novels that made their way to the silver screen. Just like any other industry, Bollywood also gets inspired by different creations and creators.

Books That Came To Life On The Big Screen

Five Point Someone

3 Idiots, the movie that is loved by all, was inspired by Chetan Bhagat’s ‘Five Point Someone‘.

However, there were some changes in the movie. The main character in the book took the role of a side character, and the third character in the book became the protagonist in the film.

Devdas

Many movies have been made on this Bengali romantic novel written by Sarat Chandra Chattopadhyay. The famous adaptation starring Shahrukh Khan is the one everyone remembers for its epic visuals and acting.

The White Tiger

The White Tiger is an adaptation of the Booker Prize-winning 2008 novel by Aravind Adiga. The movie gives us an insight into the caste system prevailing in India. Not only this, but the film also talks about issues like inequality and class conflicts.

A Suitable Boy

Released on the 23rd of October, A Suitable Boy is an adaptation of Vikram Seth’s novel bearing the same name. The story is set in the post-independence period and revolves around four families.

It centers on Lata’s mother trying to find a suitable boy for her daughter, who is a determined girl. She stands up for herself by not listening to her mother and her opinionated brother.
