The Unseen Side Of Delhi: Hidden Gems To Visit If You’re Not A Mall Person

As a college student, going out to new places becomes a norm when freedom is new and largely undiscovered. Visiting malls like Select Citywalk and DLF Promenade becomes drab and heavy on the pockets after a few visits.

Moreover, summers are no time to visit overcrowded markets like Sarojini Nagar and Lajpat Nagar.

Although it may seem like malls and expensive markets is all Delhi has to offer, the reality is somewhat different. Hidden beneath the paraphernalia are some scenic gems which are often overlooked.

1) Talkatora Gardens:

Located near the President’s Estate, this garden is one of a kind with its plethora of waterfalls, big and small. In addition to the well-placed waterworks, the light works come out at night.

The garden is also well known for its collection of fauna. Apart from the visuals, the garden is spacious and has 2 levels. With the Talkatora Fort situated on the topmost level, the place is a banging spot to hang out at.

2) Parthasarathy Rocks:

This scenic destination near JNU is the pride of the campus. The place is the highest natural point in Delhi and is an open area dotted by small hills. The ideal time to visit the place is in the evenings.

It is a rad place to hang out with friends and people are also met with wildlife as the rocks are situated on the edge of the forest.

3) Lodi- The Garden Restaurant:

Although heavy on the pockets, this destination restaurant is giving us some serious goals.

With a pebbled outdoor seating shaded with diverse botany, the setting is that of an intimate affair. The place is a must-visit for a Sunday brunch or dinner with friends.

4) Ridge Road, North Campus:

Ridge Road is one of the quietest roads in Delhi in comparison to the clogged roads and lanes.

This stroll-worthy street is a personal favorite of DU students. The quiet street also houses several monuments like the Baoli near Pir Ghabi

5) Waste to Wonders:

This latest tourist attraction is an excellent place to pass your evenings and hang out with both family and friends.

With all the wonders of the world in one place, it’s a great opportunity to showcase your photography skills and spice up your Insta feed!

The entry fee is only Rs. 20 and the wonders are made up of renewable energy and waste material.
