Super Inspiring PepsiCo’s CEO Indra Nooyi Steps Down

Indra Nooyi's revolutionary journey with PepsiCo is finally coming to an end.

Indra Nooyi’s revolutionary journey with PepsiCo is finally coming to an end. She will be stepping down from the post of CEO after 12 years of successfully leading the food and beverage giant.

President Ramon Laguarta, 54, will succeed the 62-year-old Nooyi from October 3, and will become PepsiCo’s sixth CEO.

Ms Nooyi, has been associated with the company for 24 years now and she will continue as chairman of the board until early 2019.

Mr Laguarta too has had a long standing relationship of 22 years with PepsiCo, and since September 2017 has been the president, overseeing global operations, corporate affairs, growth strategies, public policy and government affairs.

Nooyi’s Contribution

This FMCG giant’s shares have gained 78 per cent since Ms Nooyi took the top job in 2006, and since then PepsiCo has only prospered.

“Growing up in India, I never imagined I’d have the opportunity to lead such an extraordinary company, PepsiCo today is in a strong position for continued growth with its brightest days still ahead.”

– said Nooyi.

Nooyi has been responsible for changing the face of the food and beverage giant. From sugary sodas and junk foods, PepsiCo now boasts of a highly diversified product portfolio.

She has made sure that PepsioCo offers something for everyone. From Lays to Quaker Oats, and Pepsi to Tropicana, the product range is wider, healthier and more inclusive.

Nooyi has inspired women across the world by reinstating the belief that women too are capable and deserving of high responsibility positions in the male-dominated corporate world.

Why The Need For This Change?

Nooyi has been successfully doing her job since 12 long years and has guided PepsiCo through toughest of times, while she managed to rebrand Pepsi as more than just a soft drink manufacturer.

Feeling the need to sit back and relax for now, Nooyi says that, “Being a CEO requires strong legs and I feel like I ran two legs of a relay race and I want somebody else with nice strong legs and sharp eyes to come and lead this company.”

However Nooyi feels that her job isn’t just done yet, because she plans on doing everything that she was constrained to do when she was the CEO of the company.

For now she wants to go on a nice vacation, listen to music while she makes plans to help create more success stories like hers by ensuring that women are represented in the top management ranks of corporate America.
