How to have a successful Blind Date?

By Neetu Suthar

blind-date“Oh, did I say 6 feet 2? No, I meant 5 feet 6”.

Huh! This kind of ambiguity often arises in case of blind dating.

But for many eligible bachelors, internet dating seemed like a gift from the matchmaking god.

As per wiki (Wikipedia), a blind date is a social engagement between two persons who have not previously met, usually arranged by a mutual acquaintance. The date is also very adventurous in the way that neither party knows what to expect and whether or not they will hit it off. Many times things get misinterpreted and result in a big flop show. So, it is very necessary to properly plan your date in order to ensure that the person you are going out with has the potential you wish to see.

If you are so conscious of the looks, then citing qualities which you want in your partner will help in getting the mate of your choice. Put all the must-haves on your list. It will not make you shallow-it only means that you are realistic about the partner of your type.

Second, do research before the date, ask about his/her like and dislikes. Research current events – national, international or may be the pop culture. This way you’ll have something to talk about. It is very necessary to have an instant connection, similar interests and witty conversation. But be careful about not to disclose matters of personal interest like your places of business as this can be harmful sometimes.

One very important thing you need to get prepare for is your encounter with your date. Many dating websites recommend that the location of the first date should be public and someone close to you must be well aware of the venue of dating for safety reasons.

Next, you must be very well prepared about how you will look like for your blind date. It is important to dress appropriately for an occasion you have been eagerly waiting for. So, present the best version of yourself and thereby making the date successful. The first impression needs to be the lasting one.

Also, it is very important to keep an open mind and give your date a fair chance to make a good impression. It is important as both the parties may get nervous in their first meeting and therefore it is required of you to be clear in your thoughts and expression. You need to ensure as well that your meeting is short and brief. Going to a restaurant, a coffee shop, or maybe a park is a good idea.

Gifting a heart shaped item or jewellery can be a little too much, think of something simple or sober. Don’t go overboard as this is your first date and that too with a person whom you’ve never met. Trust is a very big issue, be yourself. Lying makes a bad date and if you don’t feel like sharing your feelings just don’t. It would rather be a better option.

Have fun and enjoy as much you can. You may not necessarily end up in a long lasting relationship but you may get a very close friend. Or in any worst scenario, your perception about the person completely fails, just smile and end the date. Inform him/her that there is no connection between both of you. A good idea would be to arrive in separate vehicles, so that you can make an early exit if the date turns out to be a nightmare.

All the best. Happy Dating :)
