The ongoing, sometimes cold, and sometimes explosive war, doesn’t seem to be settling soon. A recent development came when Russia used suicidal weapons against Ukraine.
Kyiv, the capital of Ukraine witnessed a number of suicidal drones, Kamikaze drones, on 17th October sent by Russia that set buildings on fire and forced people to hurriedly find shelters for themselves.
Iranian Kamikaze Drones
The Kamikaze drones that caused four explosions in the capital of Ukraine were exported from Iran. These kinds of drones have been used repeatedly by Moscow in the last months. Previously, on the 14th of October, three drones were blasted on Makariv.
Confirming the news on social media, Andrii Yermak, the head of the Ukrainian president’s office, wrote, “The capital was attacked by kamikaze drones. The Russians think it will help them, but it shows their desperation.”

About These Drones
These Iranian-made drones are also referred to as “loitering missiles” as these drones tend to wait for some time in the target area and strike when they identify their enemy. Because of their portability, practicality, and miniature design, these drones are difficult to detect and can do their work from a certain distance as well.
They get their name from Japanese pilots that were prevalent during World War II. These pilots intentionally crashed their fighter planes with their enemies to carry out attacks.
Similar to the Japanese pilots, Kamikaze drones get destroyed after attacking their enemies and are also disposable, unlike the traditional military drones that return after attacking the enemies.
Aftermath
Ukrainian officials said that at least four people were killed after Russia attacked Ukraine with Kamikaze drones on Monday. Around 19 people who got stuck were rescued from the ruins caused by drones, said Kyrylo Tymoshenko, a senior official working with the president of Ukraine.
The Ukrainian Air Force said early Monday that it had destroyed 37 Iranian-made kamikaze drones and three cruise missiles in the country’s south and east.
The European Union said that it will soon discuss the matter and take relevant steps. Russia and Ukraine have been in a tight spot since the past eight months.
