Here’s what you need to know about the Mitsubishi ASX:

Something different to the market

Mitsubishi is one of several Japanese car manufacturers. Their models tend to gain traction only in some parts of the world. The ASX is a model they hope will open up their brand to new audiences.

It offers practicality and style in a compact form. Some people, including myself, feel the ASX is a breath of fresh air in the motoring world! All too often we tend to see just rehashed cars based on existing designs. The ASX is nothing like its predecessors. Nor is it a carbon copy of someone else’s design!

Many motorists want a car that meets their needs while offering individuality. Mitsubishi believes that the ASX is the solution we have been waiting for. And we think they are probably right!

Several engine choices

Some motorists will want a powerful family car. Others want something that’s frugal on fuel. And then there are some of us that want the best of both worlds. Judging by the list of engine options, the Mitsubishi ASX has something for everyone.

Performance-hungry motorists may wish to opt for the 2.2-litre petrol engine. It boasts 147 brake horsepower as standard and has a 0-60 mph time of 10.5 seconds. That’s not too bad, considering this is a family car that weighs 1.5 tonnes! There are also 1.6-litre and 1.8-litre petrol engines available too.

Those that want to save money on fuel should opt for the 1.6-litre diesel unit. While power is lower at 112 brake horsepower, it offers high fuel economy of 61 MPG combined. CO2 emissions are quite low at 119 g/km, making it also a greener engine.

The engines are available with five or six-speed manual or automatic transmissions.

They are more affordable than their competitors

Mitsubishi is keen to make inroads into new markets. Their tactic is to keep costs down without compromising on quality. As such, one can get an ASX from the Pentagon-Group without spending a fortune. The same cannot always get said for competing models like the Nissan Qashqai and the Skoda Yeti.

One should note that Mitsubishi isn’t a car brand that sells cheap and cheerful cars. What you are buying is a mid-range vehicle that offers a better feature set than its competitors. Remember this is the same company that brought out the Evo high-performance cars!

Plenty of practicality

One of the reasons you will want to buy the Mitsubishi ASX is down to one factor: practicality. This is a vehicle suited to those with growing families. There are plenty of storage options within the car. Plus, the cabin space can get adapted to better suit one’s needs.

The boot offers 416 litres of volume – bigger than the Nissan Qashqai, for example. It also has 60/40 split folding rear seats so that you can carry odd sized cargo but still have a rear passenger.

It’s a car that looks like a small hatchback from the outside but offers near-SUV cabin space on the inside!

High levels of comfort

Last, but not least, there’s one thing you should bear in mind about the Mitsubishi ASX. It’s a car designed for people that like to travel in comfort!

Both the driver and their passengers can enjoy plenty of legroom. Plus, they get to sit in comfortable seats. That means they don’t give people aches and pains after long journeys! The seats have various adjustments to offer the best seating positions.

What’s more, the seats have a lot of support. When you go around corners, for instance, they hold you firmly in place.

Go out for a test drive in one today. We’re sure you’ll wish you’d have done so sooner!
